Meloneras is a fairly new resort compared to the rest of the holiday resorts in Gran Canaria, but that doesn't mean it's any less picturesque. Catering to any one of the island's 2.2 million tourists a year, Meloneras is fast becoming one of the main tourist resorts in the whole island. Situated on the south coast of Gran Canaria, close to the resorts of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, the resort is chic and sophisticated with an air of luxury about it.
Like the rest of Gran Canaria, Meloneras has a typically Mediterranean climate. Holiday-makers going there can expect an uninterrupted summer of sunshine and high temperatures or, if they prefer a winter trip, can still look forward to sunny days, cool temperatures and plenty of quiet beaches for those couple's getaways. There's no bad time to visit the resort.
Meloneras has a sandy beach which is perfect for enjoying the pleasant year round weather of the resort. The tranquil beach offers relaxed conditions for sunbathing or swimming in the crystal clear waters. Alternatively, the stylish resort is packed with shops and designer boutiques that run along the promenade where visitors can take part in some retail therapy. At night, Meloneras comes to life with plenty of great restaurants, bars and nightlife spots to chill out with a glass of wine and watch the sun set in lovely surroundings.
Summer Weather in Meloneras
Holiday goers will be pleased to know that in Meloneras summer is hot, but not uncomfortably so. Between May and September, the temperature averages between 20°C and 24°C and never drops below 18°C. However, high temperatures can hit 26°C some days and the humidity in the air can and most likely will make the air warmer than that, so if you do get a little hot and bothered, the sea temperature is nice and warm (between 21°C and 23°C) and should be ideal for cooling off in.
Summer is the sunniest time of the year in Meloneras, especially June and July which see an average of 12 hours of sunshine a day. It's advised that you check the forecast before you leave the hotel as Meloneras can see high levels of UV rays too. These are harmful if there's too much exposure, so wear sunglasses (UV400 should do the trick), apply plenty of sun cream and if it's high, stick to the shade.
The best thing about the resort's peak summer season is that there is no rain. Seriously! The average rain for June to August is 0mm for each month and even September has just 9mm. There's bound to be some wind, considering the resort's coastal location, but it hardly ever gets rough. The average you can expect is 22 mph.

Autumn Weather in Meloneras
The months of October and November are classed as autumn in Meloneras, although the temperatures don't vary much from summer. Days are still wonderfully warm, with average temperatures of between 21°C and 23°C and highs of 25°C. Temperatures hardly ever drop below 18°C so visitors should easily get away with light layers and no coat at this time of year.
Sunshine levels begin to drop in autumn, but only just. October and November see 9 and 10 hours respectively, and UV levels also decrease which is good news. This makes autumn a perfect time to visit the resort's beautiful beach to soak up the sun and get a tan. The waters are still warm enough to take a dip too, remaining above 22°C for the whole season.
Compared to the dry summer months, autumn is much wetter but that doesn't mean there's lots of rain. October is still dry on most days, with just 10mm of precipitation and 7 wet days, while November's rainfall increases to 21mm and just 8 wet days. Any rainfall that does occur will usually fall in quick showers and pass quickly.
Winter Weather in Meloneras
Despite being warm all year round, Meloneras still has to classify its latter end of the year as winter, but don't let that word fool you. It's anything but cold. Sure, it's not like the summer, but with an average temperature of 17°C with peaks at 21°C and troughs at around 14°C, it hardly seems mentioning that the weather is great all year round. This means Meloneras is a popular winter sun destination.
Although it is winter, Meloneras still sees between 8 and 9 hours of lovely sunshine a day between December and February. The perk of a winter holiday at Meloneras is that you can stay out in the sun all day without risk from any UV rays as there are hardly any. Of course it's always best to check the forecast before you set out; better safe than sorry.
Winter is definitely rainy season in Meloneras but for those holiday makers who would like to see Gran Canaria's sand dunes and grassy ravines, the rain will add that picturesque quality to their day. Throughout the winter, rain can tally up anything from 17mm and 22mm on average with between 6 and 9 wet days a month. This is still relatively low though, so it's not worth bringing an umbrella. Speaking of umbrellas the wind speed drops to around 10 mph, but has been known to extreme at 41 mph. It's still no Mary Poppins act, but can make the resort a little chilly, in spite of the temperature. If you take a long-sleeved T-shirt you should be fine.
Spring Weather in Meloneras
The weather in the Canary Island's is thought to be spring-like all year round, and this is definitely true for Meloneras. Temperatures between March and May stay around the same as the rest of the year, if slightly cooler than summer and autumn, averaging between 18°C and 20°C with highs of 21°C. These pleasant temperatures are joined by plenty of sunshine, with between 10 and 11 hours of sun a day.
After the wetter autumn and winter months, spring is starting to dry up and sees hardly any rainfall. There's just 10mm in March and a negligible 2mm in May, with no more than 6 wet days in each month. This means holiday makers should be able to enjoy a beach holiday without having to worry about wet weather. Overall, spring is a great time to visit Meloneras, as the weather is lovely and not too hot, while the resort is a little quieter than the peak summer months.
