Rothbury is a town in Northumberland in the north-east of England in the United Kingdom. It is located on the River Coquet, and is about 25 miles north of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and about 35 miles north of the historic city of Durham.

The climate in Rothbury is characterised as an oceanic temperate climate. The weather lacks extremes of temperature or conditions, with four clear seasons including a mild summer and cool winter. Rainfall is fairly consistent year-round, with no pronounced wet or seasons.
The town is an excellent base for walks in the area, and the nearby Simonside Hills and Northumberland National Park are extremely popular with walkers and hikers.
Summer
Summer lasts from June to September when average temperatures range from 17°C in June and September to 20°C in July and August.
Temperatures can regularly get into the mid-twenties on sunny days during July and August, and the weather can be extremely pleasant for walking in the surrounding countryside or wandering around the town. However, the weather is changeable at any time of year, and downpours are fairly common, even in the summer months. Conditions are sometimes overcast, and at these times it can get a bit chilly, so it is a good idea to take a range of clothing.
Rainfall is fairly uniform year-round, but July is the slightly drier than most other times of year, seeing an average of 45mm of rain. August, on the other hand, sees an average of 61mm of rain.
Autumn
Autumn begins in late-September, and temperatures drop noticeably to an average of 13°C by October. It can get quite cold, especially in exposed areas of the surrounding country, but warm, sunny days are also common well into October. Evenings during autumn can get chilly quite quickly, and night-time temperatures can fall to around 6°C.
In November temperatures fall to single figures, with average daytime temperatures of 9°C. Nights can see temperatures drop to 3°C. By mid-November, winter conditions take hold and frosts become common. November is also fairly wet, with frequent rainy days.
Winter
Winter begins in mid-November and lasts until mid-March. The winter weather is moderated by the influence of the Gulf Stream, which brings warm waters from southern regions and warms the climate. As such, winters in the area are much less severe than those found in many regions at similar latitude. Having said that, conditions can get extremely cold during the winter months. Average temperatures are 7°C in December, 6°C in January and 7°C in February. It frequently gets colder than that, and daytime temperatures often struggle to climb much above freezing in January and February. Snowfall is common in January and February in particular, and this is occasionally heavy. Night-time temperatures can get very cold, often falling well below freezing in January and February.
Spring
Temperatures rise to more comfortable levels in April, when the average daytime temperature reaches 11°C. Spring sees slightly less rain than autumn, and conditions can be pleasant on sunny days. May can get quite warm, with an average daytime temperature of 15°C, and the weather can be excellent for walks in the area.
