Playa dâen Bossa, Spain is a beach situated about 3.1 kilometres south of Ibiza Town. With its good stretch of sandy beach measuring 2.7 km, and with a varying width of about 20-30 metres, Playa dâen Bossa is basically the longest stretch of beach on the island of Ibiza. The beach resort is littered with hotels, bars, and caf©s catering for an eclectic mix of different tastes and budgets.

Playa dâen Bossa is a major tourist spot on the island, and a favourite holiday destination for European travellers. It is located in the municipality of Sant Joseph de sa Talaia on the south eastern part of the island, and the islandâs main airport is only about 3.4 km southwest of Playa dâen Bossa. Likewise, it is easily accessible by sea through Ibiza Townâs harbour facilities in the north. 

Playa dâen Bossa, Ibiza is one the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Ibiza is the third largest island of the Spanish archipelago called the Balearic Islands. All the islands of the Balearic archipelago are partially submerged peaks that form parts of a mountain range extending to the south of the Iberian Peninsula. The islandâs capital and largest city is Ibiza Town, or officially, Vila de Eivissa.

The island is rich in history, dating back to the time of the Phoenicians and the Romans, making it a rich cultural holiday getaway. The Greeks, who came during the time of the Phoenicians, were first to name the island and the adjoining Formentera, Pity"ssae, because of the rich blanket of pines that covers island.


Playa dâen Bossa, together with the whole of Ibiza Island, is generally classified as a Mediterranean temperate climate, which means it has moderately warm summers and mild winters. The Mediterranean Sea, which surrounds the island, greatly influences the islandâs weather and climate. The maximum average temperature of the last decade of about 30C, during high summer, is relatively low due to the cooling effects of the Mediterranean Sea. 


The island of Ibiza enjoys a relatively sunny temperate Mediterranean climate, which makes it an ideal destination all year round. In Playa dâen Bossa, a moderate wind from the sea blows at an average of around 12 kph, with gustiness reaching an average of 53 kph, basically cooling down the inland temperature. In recent years, there has been a marked increase of gusty winds on certain areas of the island that may be due to the increase in temperature in the island. In fact, a maximum sustained speed of wind gusts at about 57kmph has been recorded in Ibiza in the recent years.

The maximum average temperature of about 30°C (86°F) during high summer is relatively low as a result of the cooling effects of the surrounding seas. The mean temperature during the summer months averages from 22C to 28C in Playa dâen Bossa and its surrounding areas. The island has daily relative humidity averaging around 72 per cent, which is generally offset by the low summer temperature.

During this season, Playa dâen Bossa enjoys an extremely long period of sunlight, averaging around 13 hours of daylight, which is generally good news for those who enjoy basking in the sun. The precipitation during the start of summer is moderate at 23 mm, which the falls to around 8 mm at the end of the season, coming to about 3 to 4 days of drizzle per month. Summer offers the longest period of cloudless days with just around eleven days of expected rain.


The start of the autumn months is marked by a steady decrease in temperature and a dramatic increase in precipitation. During this season, the average mean temperature on the islandâs coast drops down to about 18C, and precipitation on the island is gradually increasing day by day until the month of October. This increase in precipitation averages 9 to 10 days of rain during each month of fall, with the highest average precipitation occurring during the month of October at 69 mm.

The average daily relative humidity during this season is at 74 per cent, with a high of 76 per cent during mid-autumn. Wind gusts also perk up during this season, with wind speeds reaching around 69 kph that sweep through Playa dâen Bossa and its environs. Autumn also marks a dramatic drop in the sunshine hours due to shorter days and cloudy skies. From September onward to December, Playa dâen Bossa endures longer nights.


During this season, the climate is ordinarily mild and dry with very occasional showers throughout the island. Mildness of temperature during winter months can vary from 8C to about 16C, with an average mean temperature of around 11C. In recent years, there have recorded drops in temperature averaging a little higher than the freezing point. This low temperature is uncommon to the island.

Playa dâen Bossa and its surrounding areas have a relative humidity 75 per cent on average, and the precipitation averages bring occasional drizzle and showers, around 7 to 11 days during the season. Furthermore, fog frequently occurs during the month of February. Playa dâen Bossa and its environs naturally experience shorter days during the winter as it lies near the Tropic of the Capricorn. It has a daily average of 7 to 8 hours of daylight during this period of time. Wind also decreases in strength as winter progress.


During the early part of March, the daytime temperature on Playa dâen Bossa gradually increases to around 18C, culminating in temperatures around 23C by May. With an average of 74 per cent relative humidity, a cool soothing climate is experienced around Playa dâen Boss, which is greatly enjoyed by the tourists.
