August Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Brighton in August sees similar weather to that of July. As it is the height of summer, the temperatures tend to remain high with plenty of sunshine and very little wet weather, though this is subject to England's temperamental climate.

Brighton offers plenty to do for the visiting tourists that flock to the area during summer.

The main event that attracts around 60,000 people each year is Brighton Pride. The annual event is a huge celebration of Brighton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans community and is celebrated in force in the city. The festivities start with a parade through the city, which ends in Preston Park. Here, everything from dance tents to sex shop stalls are erected, with most attendees in fancy dress. The celebration continues well into the night across the city. It's not to be missed!

Zippos Circus also visits the city in August, taking temporary residence onHove Lawns. The famous big top show is hotly anticipated and loved by children and adults alike.

If the British summer weather doesn't hold out, there are plenty of indoor attractions in Brighton too.

The Sealife Centre is one of these and is always popular with adults and children. As well as being home to an array of different marine life, the aquarium also provides 'behind the scenes' tours that give an insight into how the fish are cared for, the research and breeding areas.

The Royal Pavilion is another famous Brighton landmark and a must-visit for tourists. The palace, originally built for the Prince Regent, is now known for its exotic architecture and interior, as well as housing one of Britain's best collections of chinoiserie style. Guided tours are available. The palace is set in the Pavilion Gardens, which are the perfect place to relax when the sun comes out once again.

If you're coming to Brighton for Gay Pride, you may well want a hotel that is close to the action and Kemp Town is where the majority of the partying goes on in the evening. Legends Hotel, Bar and Club is thus a great option. Situated right on the seafront, Brighton's largest gay hotel is minutes away from Brighton's centre and St James' Street, which houses many of the city's gay bars and clubs.

Alternatively, Thistles Hotel is right on the seafront, close to the pier and much of the city's nightlife. It is also only a short walk away from the city centre and the main shopping area.
