What's the weather like in Berlin in October

The season of Oktoberfest starts to wind down this time of the year in Berlin but the visitors still come for the amazing autumn weather and low rain chances. The city offers plenty to see and do throughout the year, but the moderate temperatures and rainfall help make this time of the year a great one for outdoor activities. Spend time wandering the streets of the city, which pulse with the storied history of this part of Western Europe.

The city stays slightly warmer than much of the surrounding area, including the nearby town of Grunheide, thanks to an interesting phenomenon. The urban setting of roads, buildings and pollution creates an insulating effect, keeping the city at a higher temperature than the areas outside the city.

Temperature

You can expect an average daily temperature this month of 10°C (about 49°F), quickly cooling down from the warmer previous months.

At night, the lows start to tease of the coming winter, with temperatures getting all the way down to 6°C (around 43°F). If you plan on spending any time outside during these cool mornings or evenings, you'll definitely want to have a jacket or sweater to stay warm. Friedrichstadt Palast

Berliner Dom

An impressive site in Berlin, the Berliner Dom, or Berlin Cathedral, is a must-see during your visit. It is the largest and most important Protestant church in Berlin and a truly imposing baroque monument that played an important role in the course of Germany's history, particularly during the Middle Ages. You can tour the facility, as well as enjoy concerts and church services throughout the week.

Ephraim Palais

Part of the Stadtmuseum Berlin, the Ephraim Palais is also worth seeing during your October stay in the capital city of Germany. It was the residential home of the wealthy banker Veitel Heine Ephraim back in the late 1700s and was regarded as the most impressive bourgeois residences in Berlin. You can take a tour of the property and participate in workshops and seminars to learn about the history.
