June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

The name Zanzibar often conjures up wild and strange visions in the mind but in actuality, it's a beautiful and enchanting place that is worthy of anyone's time for a visit. Without a doubt, there are more things to do in Zanzibar than the average tourist will have time for but that's part of the fun of a vacation; deciding what all to do.

Visitors in June will experience a markedly drier time than the previous few months and the average daytime temperatures will only reach 26°C (79°F) which is slightly cooler than the previous months, as well.

Night time lows fall to around 23°C (73°F). (Absolutely heavenly weather for a vacation.)

Precipitation for June totals around 68mm or a little more than 2½ inches of accumulation. The average relative humidity comes in at about 62%.

Visitors can look forward to roughly 9 hours of sunshine per day in June.

The average water temperature on the Zanzibar coast is 27°C (80°F).

Perhaps the main reason for visiting Zanzibar is the many pristine beaches that are available. Most people stick to the main beaches but there are several, out of the way beaches that will provide visitors with much more than just white, powdery sand and crystal clear blue waters.

Nungwi is one such beach. It is located at the northern end of the island and is known for its traditional dhow building. Dhow are the small sailboats that visitors will see everywhere they venture in Zanzibar.

In Nungwi, there is a unique opportunity to witness local craftsmen building these charming boats. There are also plenty of opportunities to go for short sailing excursions from Nungwi.

Pemba Island, Zanzibar's sister island, is also worth a visit. It has less of a tourist population but many may find that appealing.

Locals there are keen to draw in more visitors so that they can increase their meagre earnings so it's a good place to find great deals on local handmade arts and crafts as well as fresh seafood, often cooked shortly after it's brought in from the sea.
