October Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

Weather lowdown

The heat from the summer slowly starts to decrease in October in Tulum, but the rain chances stay high. Compared to September's year-high 220 mm, this month gets around 202 mm of rain. That amount falls over 14 days, so bring along the umbrella to stay dry. You won't have to worry about rain ruining your entire holiday however. Generally, the rain that falls comes in short bursts in the afternoon.

Like the nearby resort of Cancun, the average daily temperature is 27°C (about 81°F), still much warmer than the autumn temperatures the UK sees at this time of the year. The lows drop down to 24°C (about 75°F), making for warm nights to get out and party on the town. In the heat of the daytime, the temperatures jump up to 30°C (around 86°F). As you're packing for your trip, choose cool and lightweight clothing like short-sleeves, shorts, and tank tops to stay comfortable in the heat and humidity.

Bring along a pair of sunglasses and a hat, as the area gets around six hours of sunshine each day. It's also a good idea to have a high SPF sunscreen to avoid a bad sunburn that could ruin your vacation. You can definitely still swim or try watersports this time of the year, with an average sea temperature of 29°C (around 84°F). You might even feel a little chilly getting out of the water because the air temperature is lower than the water temperature.

The highest recorded temperature for this part of the Riviera Maya reached a steamy 34°C (about 93°F). The area has also seen some extreme lows, with the lowest recorded temperature dropping down to 7°C (around 45°F), chilly for this time of the year in this part of Mexico.
