You're likely to find Richmond Station full. Diners flock to the downtown restaurant that was founded by Top Chef winner Carl Heinrich. In a breezy space with high ceilings and natural wood tones, the restaurant serves hearty contemporary cuisine with a few twists.

Rodney's Oyster House
Serving since 1987, Rodney's Oyster House offers what many say are the best oysters in town. The casual King West restaurant also specialises in other seasonal seafood. Settle into counter seating and begin a meal with Oyster Slap Jack chowder. Continue with Dungeness crab, fried calamari or a dish of garlic shrimp.
If they're in season, soft shell steamer clams or steamed mussels will be on the menu. Dessert favourites include crème brulee and Belgian chocolate mousse. Rodney's is open daily at 11:30 am and closes at 10 pm on Monday, at 10:30 on Tuesday, 11 pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and at 12 am on Friday and Saturday.
With a location close to Kensington Market, Mother's Dumplings is set slightly apart from most other Chinatown restaurants. As its name would lead you to believe, the unassuming eatery serves handmade dumplings such as steamed or pan-fried pork, chicken, beef or vegetarian varieties. They also have a selection of soups and stews.
With just eight tables lit by traditional Chinese lanterns, best to get there early as its nearly always full of diners hungry for comfort food at affordable prices. Mother's is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11:30 am to 10 pm and stays open until 10:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Puente de Luz
Take a walk across the "Puente de Luz". The bright yellow pedestrian overpass was designed by Chilean sculptor Francisco Gazitua and spans the rail corridor leading to Union Station. In a nearly 300-square-meter space on Queen Street West, the Toronto Designers Market features more than 30 designers who offer handcrafted clothing, jewellery and furniture not found anywhere else. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, the collective is a great place to pick up artisan works as souvenirs of your time in Toronto.
Bata Shoe Museum
One of the city's unique spots, the Bata Shoe Museum is housed in a shoebox-shaped building that will be the highlight of your Instagram account. Inside there's a collection of over 12,000 shoes that trace the history of footwear back thousands of years. Among the famous shoes on display, you'll find the "blue suede shoes" of Elvis Presley.
