Thessaloniki Weather February Averages, Greece

    Thessaloniki Weather for February 2023

The weather in February is mildly warmer than January but still quite cold by Greek standards. The Vardaris wind is still strong, limiting rainfall to only 7 days of the month. With low temperatures at 2 degrees Celsius and an average of 6 degrees, many decide to stay indoors while enjoying the view from one of the numerous cafes in Aristotelous square.

Aristotelous square is considered Greece's most famous square. The hotel Electra Palace, which is located directly above the square offers both an amazing view and affordable accommodation. Electra Palace's retro design is genuine as it was indeed built almost 100 years ago, just after the great Thessaloniki fire of 1917, and has been continuously running ever since. In fact, Aristotelous square was built as part of a reconstruction program after the great fire and the hopes and labor of the people who survived the fire can be clearly seen throughout this historical square. (Although some of the more grandiose plans for reconstruction were never realized due to fund restrictions).

At this time of the year, the most popular ski resort is arguably Elatochori. Situated at 105 km from Thessaloniki and easily reachable via daily free bus rides, Elatochori sports a bustling ski resort with 3 lifts, 5 tracks and a luxurious chalet. During February and through the ski season, a daily pass in Elatochori costs only 17.

For those who decide to stay within the city limits, a dinner at Zythos restaurant might present an unforgettable experience. Warm and cosy, Zythos (and its sister restaurant Dore) offer top-tier Greek food in affordable prices. Zythos offers a full menu for just 8 euros per person and also offers the most extensive variety of beer in town. (Zythos meaning beer in Greek.)
