Playa de Los Cristianos
If you're looking for a somewhere lively to spend the day by the beach, head to Playa de Los Cristianos. Situated in the holiday resort of Los Cristianos, this beach is sheltered by a small harbour, making the sea ideal for children to swim in. There are loads of facilities available, including sun loungers, parasols, changing rooms, showers, toilets and lifeguards. Lining the promenade along the beach, you'll find a huge selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and ice cream parlours, ideal for wandering around if the sun gets too much for you.
Playa de Benijo
Surfers will be happy to hear that there are a number of beaches ideal for practicing the sport in Tenerife. Playa de Benijo in Santa Cruz is a black sandy beach which can only be accessed by a drive through zigzagging mountain roads. You won't find many amenities here with the exception of one small beach kiosk but the giant waves make it a popular spot for surfers.

Restaurant 88 in La Caleta is one of the best places on the island for fresh sushi. Situated on the sea front, this eatery offers fantastic views, alongside an extensive Oriental menu. Visitors can choose to dine inside in the shade or outside on the sunny terrace as they enjoy traditional and authentic dishes.
Casa Tres Tenerife
Another popular restaurant in the south of the island is Casa Tres Tenerife located in Torviscas. This family-run restaurant offers a comprehensive menu with a great choice of starters, mains and desserts. Don't miss the stunning, homemade paella here, with punchy, traditional flavours. Every Sunday evening a special set menu is available and reservations are strongly recommended.
If you feel like a late-night drink, head to Taboo's Nightclub in Golf del Sur. The only club in the resort, this club is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and hit the dance floor. There is a great family-atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon when the chill out session is held, with loads of local live bands performing.
Harvey's Bar in Los Cristianos is a family-friendly bar, with plenty of things to keep the whole family amused. Open from 9am until late, this bar has nightly karaoke sessions and shows all live sporting events on five large screen TVs. Weekly acts are also shown, including the popular Mister Sister drag performance.
Things to do in Tenerife in July
Teide National Park
A holiday in Tenerife isn't complete without a trip to Teide National Park. At 3,718m tall, Teide is the highest peak in Spain and the third tallest volcano in the world. July is a great time to visit this park, which can sometimes be closed in the winter months due to snowy weather. There are several excursions available from companies throughout the island who pick travellers up from their hotel and transport them to the Teide National Park.
The drive up to the peak passes through several pine forests and traditional villages which make the journey alone worth it. When you arrive at the park you'll have the chance to take a cable car to the peak of the volcano, providing it's not closed due to high winds.
The Lago Martianez swimming pools in Puerto de la Cruz are a great place for the whole family to spend a sunny afternoon in Tenerife. Open every day from 10am until 6pm in winter and from 10am until 7am during summer, this attraction is made up of seven swimming pools, including a large lake and several children's pools. There is also a low-cost restaurant, kiosk and a number of bars. After dark, Lago Martianez is transformed into one of the hottest nightspots in the north, complete with the town's casino located under the lake.
