    With an average of 11 sunshine hours each day, July is the sunniest month of the year and also has one of the warmest average sea temperatures, at 22°C.

    Playa de Los Cristianos

    If you're looking for a somewhere lively to spend the day by the beach, head to Playa de Los Cristianos. Situated in the holiday resort of Los Cristianos, this beach is sheltered by a small harbour, making the sea ideal for children to swim in. There are loads of facilities available, including sun loungers, parasols, changing rooms, showers, toilets and lifeguards. Lining the promenade along the beach, you'll find a huge selection of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and ice cream parlours, ideal for wandering around if the sun gets too much for you.

    Playa de Benijo

    Surfers will be happy to hear that there are a number of beaches ideal for practicing the sport in Tenerife. Playa de Benijo in Santa Cruz is a black sandy beach which can only be accessed by a drive through zigzagging mountain roads. You won't find many amenities here – with the exception of one small beach kiosk – but the giant waves make it a popular spot for surfers.

    Restaurant 88 in La Caleta is one of the best places on the island for fresh sushi. Situated on the sea front, this eatery offers fantastic views, alongside an extensive Oriental menu. Visitors can choose to dine inside in the shade or outside on the sunny terrace as they enjoy traditional and authentic dishes.

    Casa Tres Tenerife

    Another popular restaurant in the south of the island is Casa Tres Tenerife located in Torviscas. This family-run restaurant offers a comprehensive menu with a great choice of starters, mains and desserts. Don't miss the stunning, homemade paella here, with punchy, traditional flavours. Every Sunday evening a special set menu is available and reservations are strongly recommended.

    If you feel like a late-night drink, head to Taboo's Nightclub in Golf del Sur. The only club in the resort, this club is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and hit the dance floor. There is a great family-atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon when the chill out session is held, with loads of local live bands performing.

    Harvey's Bar in Los Cristianos is a family-friendly bar, with plenty of things to keep the whole family amused. Open from 9am until late, this bar has nightly karaoke sessions and shows all live sporting events on five large screen TVs. Weekly acts are also shown, including the popular Mister Sister drag performance.

    Things to do in Tenerife in July

    Teide National Park

    A holiday in Tenerife isn't complete without a trip to Teide National Park. At 3,718m tall, Teide is the highest peak in Spain and the third tallest volcano in the world. July is a great time to visit this park, which can sometimes be closed in the winter months due to snowy weather. There are several excursions available from companies throughout the island who pick travellers up from their hotel and transport them to the Teide National Park.

    The drive up to the peak passes through several pine forests and traditional villages which make the journey alone worth it. When you arrive at the park you'll have the chance to take a cable car to the peak of the volcano, providing it's not closed due to high winds.

    Lago Martianez

    The Lago Martianez swimming pools in Puerto de la Cruz are a great place for the whole family to spend a sunny afternoon in Tenerife. Open every day from 10am until 6pm in winter and from 10am until 7am during summer, this attraction is made up of seven swimming pools, including a large lake and several children's pools. There is also a low-cost restaurant, kiosk and a number of bars. After dark, Lago Martianez is transformed into one of the hottest nightspots in the north, complete with the town's casino located under the lake.

    Festival Internacional Jazz y Mas

    A prominent feature of the Canary Islands music scene since its beginning in 1992, the Canary Islands Jazz Festival welcomes excellent jazz musicians to Tenerife and the other Canary Islands, both from the Canary Islands themselves and the rest of the world. More than 15,000 people attend this event. It happens in two different theatres: Auditorio de Tenerife Adan Martin Fundacion Auditorio Teatro Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.



    Caprichos Musicales

    22nd July 2019

    Series of concerts in Garachico, Los Silos, Buena Vista and El Tanque. These concerts feature renowned musicians and performers from all over the world, including performances of classical, jazz and choral music. The musicians also hold courses and workshops for the public. A central feature in the calendar of alternative culture and tourism in Tenerife.




    San Benito Abad Pilgrimage

    13th July 2019 to 14th July 2019

    In San Cristobal de la Laguna, takes place one of the most traditional festivals in Tenerife, with its origins being the thanksgiving for the summer's harvest. Many people participate in authenticl dress with traditional folk dancing and music, as well as local cuisine. The event also features the election of a Pilgrimage Queen. This event have been said to be 'of national tourist interest'



    Virgin del Carmen

    16th July 2019

    In July, Puerto de la Cruz comes to life with the Virgen del Carmen fiesta around the 16th. These celebrations include a procession down to the town’s harbour, where a giant statue of the ‘Virgen’ is placed on a small fishing boat next to a figure of St Elmo – the Spanish and Portuguese patron saint of mariners – and taken on a trip around the bay. The Virgen del Carmen fiesta attracts thousands of people from all over the island who take part in the water fights and harbour swimming that make this fiesta one of the best of the year.



    Arona Summer Festival

    Day festival that takes place at Antonia Dominguez Olympic stadium in Las Americas, Arona. Many big makes in music perform at this festival an example of this is Armin Van Buuren who performed in 2014.



    Sports Event

    Canary InfinityXtreme Race

    14th July 2019

    A challenging race starting at Puerto de la Cruz, between eight and ten miles long with over fifteen obstacles, and over 600 participants. Its described as the most difficult sporting event of its kind and is a huge test of mental and physical capacity. Any one can sign up to do this race but if thats not something you would enjoy a fiesta takes place alongside this with live music, outrageous biking stunts and a closing party.




    Battle of Santa Cruz

    25th July 2019

    The Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was a historic assault by the British on the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The battle was launched by Rear-Admiral Nelson on July 22nd 1797 until the British were defeated only three days later. To commemorate this remarkable event in Canarian history a re-enactment of Nelson's defeat is celebrated every year on the 25 July at the Castillo de San Juan Bautista.
