Stockholm Weather June Averages, Sweden
What's the Weather like in Stockholm in June
The mesmerising landscape of Stockholm, Sweden, gently blends the grandness of Lake Mälaren and the vastness of the Baltic Sea. Skeppsholmen, Stadsholmen and Kungsholmen are only three of the fourteen islands that comprise the stunning archipelago of Stockholm. Amidst the stunningly picturesque lakes, bays, canals, wetlands and watercourses, the city puts a dizzying spell on visitors.
In this period featuring the longest days of the year, the sun shines for an incredible 12 hours each day, the most sun any month gets in this city.
The length of the days in June is basically constant. 21st June is the longest day of the whole year, having no fewer than 18.39 hours of daylight. 1st June and 30th June aren't too much shorter, respectively with 18.05 and 18.28 daylight hours. This gloriously high amount of daylight and sunshine makes June the perfect month to visit Stockholm, not in the least because the huge summer crowds haven't arrived quite yet and the city is still relatively calm.
June is also one of the warmest months, the abundance of sunshine helping to keep things warm. The average temperature is 16°Cnly July and August are warmer, but only by a degree or two. June afternoons heat up to 21°C on average, which is absolutely delightful. Nights get chilly, although never cold, with average low temperatures of 11°C.
As nice as the day temperatures may be, swimming isn't exactly an option in June in Stockholm. The sea temperature averages 11°C. Luckily there is a host of other fun activities to enjoy, from kayaking to boat excursions, from reading in the parks to museum visits.
With the total amount of rainfall being 45mm, June isn't a particularly wet month, yet it isn't one of the driest either. It is the transitional month between spring, the driest season, and summer, the wettest season. There are 12 days with rainfall this month, which is actually quite a low number for this destination. The probability that it will rain on any given day in June ranges around 47% throughout the entire month. Moderate rain is by far the most common rainfall type, seen on 47% of those 12 rainy days. Light rain and thunderstorms are common as well, respectively occurring on 27% and 16% of those days. Snowfall is exceptionally rare this time of year.
