June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

June is the transitional month between the cooler dry season and the warmer wet season in St. Kitts. It is relatively dry, still, and temperatures have noticeably increased during the previous few months. Sunshine remains incredibly abundant, as is the case basically any month of the year.

May saw a peak in rainfall total, but June is much less rainy (not that May was that wet to begin with). Now, there is a total amount of rainfall of 80mm, not as much as the following wet season months, yet already a bit more than the months in the middle of the dry season. There are 10 days with rainfall, which, of course, means that there are twice as many, 20 days, without any precipitation at all. The chance of rain is never higher than 20% during this month. Light rain is by far the rainfall type that is most common, occurring on 56% of the days with rainfall. Moderate rain and thunderstorms occur as well, on 22% and 21% of those days respectively.

June is one of the two sunniest months of the whole year, enjoying 10 hours of sunshine per day on averagearch is the other month. This plethora of sunshine makes St. Kitts an ideal beach destination this time of year. 80% of all days are sunny.

Swimming in the Caribbean Sea is a popular thing to do as the sea water temperature averages no less than 28°C this month.

The afternoons in June can get nothing less than hot, the high temperature averaging 31°C. This is as warm as it gets on the island, a temperature that is also recorded in July, August, September and Octoberssentially all wet season months, in other words. At night, the mercury doesn't drop lower than the average low temperature of 24°C. The overall average temperature is 28°C.

What better place to stay at during your tropical vacation in June than your own private villa? One such villa is Caribreezes, which is part of the Half Moon Bay Villas situated just above the amazing Royal St. Kitts Golf Course. Also consider staying at Culture House St. Kitts. This remarkable guesthouse is a combination of a bed & breakfast, a restaurant and a bar, and a hostel. It offers affordable accommodation to budget travellers looking for a comfortable, well equipped place to stay without breaking the bank.

Hit the Beach

With 10 hours of sunshine to be enjoyed every day, June is the sunniest month of the year. Take advantage of that and head to Dieppe Bay Beach, a small, grey-sand beach that features calm water thanks to a large reef. The reef is home to a wide variety of sea creatures, making this a great spot for snorkelling. Tall palm trees back the beach, adding to its wonderful tropical charm.

Eating and Drinking Out

For Indian food, consider visiting Tamarind Indian Cuisine Restaurant. Serving a combination of Indian and Asian dishes, this recommended restaurant is located in Port Zante in Basseterre and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Another amazing place to go for a meal or drinks is Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack Bar & Grill, located in Frigate Bay. This amazing beachside eatery serves delicious hamburgers, sandwiches, chicken dishes, barbecue and seafood.

Also in Frigate Bay, Sunset Café serves wonderful dinners in Caribbean style. Part of the Timothy Beach Resort, this nice restaurant offers free Wi-Fi and overlooks the beautifully shimmering water of the ocean.

Things to Do

One of the sunniest and hottest months of the year in St. Kitts, June is when you will want to head for the water. A strongly recommended company offering all kinds of water sports is Beach Addiction St. Kitts and Nevis. If you are in need of some cooling down, you can choose from a wide variety of activities, ranging from adventurous water sports such as flyboarding and kitesurfing to the more laidback and traditional water sports, including stand-up paddle boarding, sailing and sea kayaking.

St. Kitts is home to many attractions, but one of the most remarkable natural attractions is Black Rocks. These striking lava formations located near the Belle Vue Estate on the island's northeast coast are a reminder of the volcanic history of St. Kitts. Consisting of dozens of lava boulders, spikes and pillars, Black Rocks makes for a great spot for photography. It's a particularly stunning place around sunrise.
