June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's The Weather Like In Split In June

Not many realize how wonderful Split is as a holiday destination. Its summers are just the right kind of "hot" and eventful, its shores are garlands of smooth beaches bathed in the stunning blue Adriatic Sea. The summer solstice brings with it a pleasant marine breeze in the evenings, and the weather stays mild and just right for this time of the year.

Temperature

June is, by far, a favourite time to visit the Dalmatian coast for many vacationers. The temperature is at a steady average of 21° Celsius (70° Fahrenheit), especially in the first 14 days of the month. The thermometer then gradually increases up to a perfect 26° Celsius, which is the highest recorded for June. The all-time low is a gentle 16° Celsius, and that's mostly at night or on one of the very few rainy days.

Sunshine Hours

The days are long and bright, with a generous set of 12 hours of sunshine, and according to the general forecast for the month, chances of sunny days surge up to 65%. At night, the skies are mostly clear and covered with bright stars - the marina is simply a wondrous sight to behold after midnight, and the night breeze is cool and gentle.

Rain

Rainfall is barely an issue, dropping down to a mere 48mm, and up to 7 rainy days in the entire month. As should be expected for June, chances of rain are on average only 26%, which is common for this time of the year. Chances of cloudy days remain steady at 6%, but with the amount of beautiful sunny days in the month, it's not even a problem.

Sea Temperature

The sea temperature soars to 22° Celsius (72° Fahrenheit), making it perfect for all the dipping and swimming and sailing that you could possibly get during your stay in Split. The tropical currents are now in full swing, and the Adriatic winds remain friendly and steady, with maybe a 5% chance of more intense windy days throughout the entire month.

The barometric pressure drops slowly to 29.95Hg, and the solar radiations begin to intensify, so if you want a good natural tan, June is the month you want to spend lounging on the beaches of Split.

Split Hotels In June

Radisson Blu Resort

As expected, hotel prices begin to soar in June. If you're looking to spoil yourself while in Split, you might as well go for the four star treatment at the Radisson Blu Resort, voted Hotel of the Year 2015 by many booking platforms; a double room goes for at least £170 per night, if you book in advance, but the price is most likely to jump closer to the date.

Procurator 7 Luxury Rooms

Procurator 7 Luxury Rooms is an exceptional accommodation, for just £122 per night if booked in advance, and it also has a free cancellation policy; it's only 200 metres away from Diocletian's Palace and is part of a UNESCO heritage-protected building, with terraces and views of the Adriatic Sea.

Hotel Peristil

Hotel Peristil also remains among the tourist favourites, not only because of its central location but for its services, worth every penny.

Tchaikovsky Hostel

For low-budget holidays you'll find that Split has very good hostels in central areas. The Tchaikovsky Hostel continues to be among the top recommendations for backpackers everywhere, with prices starting from £7.60 per night. The Split Guesthouse & Hostel offers good and clean rooms (both single and bunk-beds) from just £7.70 per night, which is quite the bargain for this time of the year. A seasonal favourite is Hostel Sunseekers, minutes away from the beach and, for just £7.70 per night, also offers free breakfast.

Split Beaches For June

Bacvice

Beach options soar to the dozens in June, and they all provide full services along with fine sands and splendid views. The most popular remains Bacvice, with smooth surfaces, a shallow entrance and a generous selection of terraces to quench any thirst and soothe any tummy. It also holds an impressive number of nightclubs ready to entertain all year round.

Jezinac & Kastelet

Jezinac and Kastelet spread over the western side of Split, both modern pebble beaches preferred by the younger vacationers. The showers have drinkable water, and pine trees offer plenty of cool shade. Kastelet is in fact so popular among the young people, that its beach bars spice up the Splicani nights with summertime parties that last well into the wee hours of the morning.

Znjan

Znjan is the newest and by far largest beach built in Split. In fact it's so big that it's split into bays, often open as separate smaller beaches. It's only 5km away from the city centre and it's flanked by high quality hotels, along with showers and changing rooms, as well as other amenities.

Bars And Restaurants

Summer in Split sees the opening of numerous terraces, bringing forth the absolutely delicious seafood dishes typical for this part of the Dalmatian coast. The Konoba Matejuska serves a wide variety of fish and even delicious chowder well worth the price. Konoba Marjan is a mandatory destination for anyone venturing on the long and beautiful promenade of the Marjan seafront.

Adriatic Sushi & Oyster Bar

For a more fusion experience, give Adriatic Sushi & Oyster Bar a shot, as they serve fresh Japanese specialities, including sushi with homemade wasabi, delicious grilled seafood and savoury oysters.

F-Marine

The F-Marine borrows some authentic Italian dishes from across the Adriatic Sea, alongside its sumptuous seafood platters and Mediterranean recipes.

Ghetto Bar

As for bar hopping, the Riva Promenade now bursts with events, cafes, lounge bars, even pubs and nightclubs, flanked by white slabs of limestone and tall palm trees. The Ghetto Bar continues to dominate the nightlife in Split - it should be clear by now that the Splicani have a particular affinity for Jazz music. Plus and Fluid also open their doors near the southern Palace walls in June - and its well worth it, as they're constantly packed and overflowing with nothing but good party vibes.

Club Tropic

Club Tropic is now open every weekend; be prepared for queues and make sure you book a table in advance if you want a chance to sit down. Otherwise dance your night away on either of the two floors. And don't forget to check out one of their local Dalmatian music nights, as it gives you a glimpse of the modern spirit of the wonderful Splicani.

Things To Do In Split In June

Picigin Championship

Earlier in May we mentioned picigin games being played on the beach as a local summer sport. June is when the Splicani actually organize the "world" picigin championship, which is just heaps of fun to watch. By "world" it is implied that players from neighbouring Mediterranean countries also come to compete in what is basically a game of holding the ball up in the air for as long as possible.

Mediterranean Film Festival Split

Split is also host to the Mediterranean Film Festival Split, taking place in early June. It's one of the most popular cultural events on the Dalmatian coast and it features independent movies from the Mediterranean region. It includes an open air cinema at Bacvice, with daytime screenings in Zlatna Vrata (Golden Gate), the main cinema in the middle of Diocletian's Palace.

10 day cycling World Expeditions

With prices starting from £1190 you can join one of the 10 day cycling World Expeditions, which include hopping from island to island and riding through small fishing villages, as well as Dubrovnik and Split, all while enjoying the splendid Dalmatian seascapes and getting a taste of the local cuisine.

Hiking/Trekking

If that's a tad extreme for you, then hiking and trekking trip through Marjan would be a better option. It's a valued nature reserve spreading over hills, trailing through pine forests, beautiful scenery and even ancient chapels. The marked trail ultimately leads you down old stone stairs all the way to Kasjuni cove, a breath-taking and surprisingly quiet beach.
