What's the Weather Like in Singapore in May

Temperature

The average daily temperature for this time of the year is 27°C (about 81°F), staying consistent from the previous months, compared to June, which has an average temperature of around 27°C (about 81°F).

During the hottest part of the day, the highs can make the jump up to 31°C (about 88°F), which when combined with the rising humidity, can feel pretty balmy. Thankfully, at night, the heat abates some, with lows getting down to 25°C (around 77°F).

Rainfall

During the month of May in Singapore, visitors and residents still get a reprieve from the major monsoon rains. This month, only 171 mm of rain falls, slightly more than April's 166 mm, but well below peak monsoon levels. That amount of rain generally comes over 19 days in the month, so you'll still want to have an umbrella handy.

Average Sunshine Hours

Like nearby Indonesia, you'll get about nine hours of daylight each day, so take advantage of the long days to get out and see all the island has to offer. If you do get stuck inside because of the rain, you'll still find plenty of activities to entertain yourself, from dining out to shopping to museum hopping. With the warm temperatures though, you might still want to adventure out, even with the rain. Nothing's more refreshing than a cool shower on a hot day!

Average Sea Temperature

With lighter rainfall and still-hot temperatures, it's a good time of the year to sit around your hotel's pool, sipping on cool drinks. You can also head down to the south coast and spend time on the beaches, splashing around in the Java Sea. The average sea temperature sits at 30°C (around 86°F), nice and warm for swimming and water sports.
