What's the Weather like in Singapore in January

Monsoon season is in full swing at the beginning of the year in Singapore, with an average rainfall of 238 mm for the month of January. The rain falls over an average of 18 days, so you'll want to be prepared for heavy rainfalls that can last for days at a time. Even with the large amounts of rain, you can still find plenty to do indoors.

Temperature

Despite all the rain this part of Asia sees, you'll get to enjoy an average daily temperature of 26°C (about 79°F), exceptionally warm, especially compared to much of the Northern Hemisphere this time of year, compared to February, which has an average temperature of around 27°C (about 81°F).

During the day, the highs jump up to 30°C (around 86°F), so even if you're wet from the rain, at least you'll be warm. The lows only drop down to 23°C (about 73°F).

Along with rain gear, pack your short-sleeved shirts, shorts, and tank tops for the warm afternoons. You'll want a good pair of walking shoes for exploring and a pair of shoes you don't mind getting wet in the rain. It's a good idea to have a spare pair to wear while your other pair is drying.

Average Sunshine Hours

You can expect six hours of sunshine each day, if the sun manages to peak out in between the rainfall. The chance of a cloudy day on any given day is 80 percent and the chance of rain is 40 percent. If you're lucky you may get some sunny days, or at least some days without rain, during your stay, head to the south coast and the shoreline of the Java Sea.

Average Sea Temperature

The average sea temperature this time of the year is 28°C (about 82°F), plenty warm for swimming and trying your hand at water sports.
