This time of the year brings day after day of driving rain, tangling up traffic and making the everyday commute a headache.

Thankfully, the city-state has a well-planned public transportation system, so you have an alternative to driving around the city. The buses and trains help visitors and residents get from point to point safely and comfortably.

Like the nearby country of Malaysia, which is located right across the Straits of Johor, the island sees 6 hours of sunshine each day.

The heat from the summer has tempered somewhat, with a daily average temperature of 26°C (about 79°F). During the day, the highs still reach up to 29°C (around 84°F), but fortunately the humidity is also down, so it's more comfortable. At night, the lows drop down to 23°C (about 73°F).

Depending on your tolerance for cold, you might want a jacket for the nighttime hours, especially if you'll be spending time outside. During the day, short-sleeve shirts and shorts are still appropriate. You'll want a rain coat or poncho, as well as an umbrella, to keep you dry as you move from attraction to attraction.

Rainfall

The chance of rain on any given day is 40% and the chance of a cloudy day is 80%.

Average Sea Temperature

Now isn't the best time to visit the beach, with the large chances of rain and driving thunderstorms. If you do catch a rare sunny day and head towards the Java Sea, you'll be greeted with warm waters.
