    Sardinia Weather for October 2023

What's the weather like in Sardinia in October

    Rainfall

October is Sardinia's wettest month of the calendar year, with an average of 41mm across the month, affecting around 11 days. Despite this fact, you should still find plenty to keep you occupied during the final summer season month, and you will certainly find cheaper deals and lesser crowds now the end of season has arrived.

    Temperature

October sees an average temperature of 18°C, which some may find welcome following the high temperatures of the previous months, with a high of 22°C, and a low of around 13°C, leading to much better sleeping conditions of an evening.

    Sunshine Hours

Despite the rainy feel to October, the sun still shines for an average of 6 hours per day, and the sea temperature is still a very pleasant 21°C, which means you can still enjoy beach days when the weather is clear, as it often is towards the coastal regions, as opposed to the more northern and inland regions of the island.

    Sardinia Hotels in October

    Ulivi E Palme Hotel

As October means a little more in the way of rain, many visitors choose to head to the capital, Cagliari, for a break, giving a choice of nearby beaches and city life during one holiday. There are plentiful choices for accommodation in Cagliari, however Ulivi E Palme Hotel offers a comfortable base, and if you do get some good weather and feel like getting active, the outdoor tennis courts and gym will serve you well.

    Sardegna Smeralda Suite

Alternatively, if you are in beautiful Porto Rotondo, Sardegna Smeralda Suite offers a home away from home base, giving you the chance to do your own cooking and feel like you are living in the heart of paradise.

    Sardinia Beaches in October

    San Teodoro

The official final month of summer sees a little more in the way of unpredictable weather, but that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy beach days when the weather is clear. San Teodoro is a great place to head to out of season, or towards the end of summer, when there are less crowds, meaning you can roam much more freely as a result.

    Pelosa Beach

Stintino is a fishing village in the north-west coast of the island which consists of many beaches. Pelosa beach is the most popular beach of the Stintino area, featuring calm, clear turquoise waters, ideal for families.

    Restaurants and Bars

    INU Sardinian Wine Bar

Everyone love a glass of wine, and locally grown wine is even better! In Cagliari, head to INU Sardinian Wine Bar and taste some locally cultivated vino, to help wash down your tapas-type meal, which is all made of locally grown produce, such as cheese and bread totally authentic!

    Pizzeria Federico Nansen

We've mentioned pizza a fair amount, but it has to be done! Pizzeria Federico Nansen, again in Cagliari, has a huge range of different toppings on offer, and these are what you could call 'proper' pizzas, with a special quirk or two to make them stand out a must try.

    Assaggia

If you're in Porto Rotondo, enjoying the last days of summer, head to Assaggia and enjoy a drink or two with a light meal, in totally laid-back surroundings. The dishes here are served in a traditional tapas style, with a wonderful selection of meats, cheeses, vegetable and fish options. All with delicious wines to pair.

Things to do in Sardinia in October

    Indoor Karting

If there is a rainy day on your holiday, head over to Monastir where there is an Indoor Karting park. Sign up to a lesson to learn how to drive the karts, then head out on to the impressive track. this venue is great for birthday celebrations too!

    JoyVillage

Another great family day out is to JoyVillage. Here you can find a bowling alley, indoor karts, pool tables, air hockey, arcade games and a whole host of activities for the entire family. There is also a restaurant serving hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches and hot and cold drinks, including beer, wine and spirits.

    Bastione San Remy

Cagliari was built on seven hills, a little known fact, and this being the capital, it should be explored to the max. October brings cooler temperatures, and the chance of rain, so that makes exploring a city a better bet than sunbathing. The top of Bastione San Remy gives you amazing views, and you can visit the beautiful Cathedral of Cagliari from here too.

    Ingurtosu

If you want to go a little off the beaten track then exploring Sardinia's former mining history is a must. UNESCO have recently declared the small village of Ingurtosu a World Heritage Site, to preserve the history and old mining workings which are still there. Many of these have been renovated and restored, and there is also a hotel there now too, so you can explore and stay in comfort.

    Isola dei Gabbiani

If all that exploring has left you exhausting, head back to nature and enjoy some water-based fun before winter takes hold. Just north of Palau, in the north of the island, you will find Isola dei Gabbiani. Despite the fact this is a beautiful area in its own right, this is also a favourite place for wind-based sports, including kite surfing. If you want to give it a go for yourself, there is a surf school and plenty of instructors to help you take your first flying steps!
