What's The Weather Like In Sardinia In April

Summer is knocking on the door in Sardinia as April dawns, and you will see signs of tourism life starting to take shape in the coastal resorts, such as Isola RossaAlghero, and Badesi Mare, to name just a few, as hoteliers and restauranteurs get ready for another busy season.

Temperature

The temperatures are starting to warm up slightly too, with an April average of around 14°C, averaging a high of 18°C, and a low of 9°C, with still quite chilly evenings again.

Rain

Despite this, the rain is still a little high, with the last bout of precipitation before the summer comes; during April you can expect around 26mm of rain throughout the month on average, which generally affects 13 days to some extent again, grab your umbrella and explore, because downpours don't generally last that long near to the coast.

Sunshine Hours

Sunshine-wise, you're in luck if you're visiting Sardinia during April, as you can expect 7 hours of sunshine per day.

Sea Temperatrue

The sea is warming up too, with an average temperature of 15°C, although still perhaps a little chilly for swimming!

April is a great time to explore Sardinia before the crowds begin to flock over the coming summer months.

Sardinia Hotels In April

Residence Palau Green Village

Summer is around the corner in Sardinia, and that means more and more accommodation options opening up to visitors. Palau is a popular spot, and quite a sophisticated one at that. There are many hotels which reflect that fact, however Residence Palau Green Village offers a home away from home vibe, with self-catering apartments set in beautiful natural surroundings. This is also only around half an hour from popular Costa Smeralda.

Hotel Luci Di La Muntagna

If you are basing yourself in Sardinia's most popular beach resort, then Hotel Luci Di La Muntagna is an exclusive option, 250m away from the marina, in the glittering Porto Cervo area of the resort.

Sardinia Beaches For April

San Teodoro

The best thing about the quieter times of the year in Sardinia is that you can explore without major tourism crowds, and in terms of beaches, this is the best time to enjoy space. San Teodoro offers a beautiful backdrop for a quiet day on the beach, in lower temperatures for the quieter times of the year. The main beach is La Cinta, with 5km of beautiful white sand. This is a very popular spot during peak season in particular. Nearby you can head to Capo Coda Cavallo with its picturesque hidden coves.

Bars And Restaurants

Azienda Agrituristica Sa Mandra

Alghero is a popular spot no matter what the time of year, so if you are visiting during this month then you are still going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to places to fill your belly of an evening. For something rustic and local, giving you the best overview of traditional cuisine in the area, Azienda Agrituristica Sa Mandra is for you. Everything is organic and home grown, and because of that the flavours are out of this world.

Parco degli Ulivi

Costa Smeralda is of course a very popular spot during the summer, with a very exclusive feel, which extends to its dining options too. Parco degli Ulivi in Arzachena is a restaurant that ticks all the boxes for special occasions, with a sophisticated feel, and delicious food. Sometimes great food is worth paying a little more for.

Arcadia Restaurant Lounge Bar

Finally, if you are in Capoterra, then you should be heading to Arcadia Restaurant Lounge Bar for a delicious steak. This has a laid-back feel, somewhere to go to relax at the end of a long day, with a chilled out atmosphere.

Things To Do In Sardinia In April

Is Molas Golf Club

If you love a spot of golf then you're in luck in Sardinia, as the island boasts some of the best in the world, as well as some of the most picturesque and scenic. Is Molas Golf Club, situated near Pula and Cagliari allows players to head there all year around, due to the unique microclimate of the area, keeping away the cooler northern winds. This 27 hole, par 72 course overlooks ancient Roman ruins, making it historic and scenic at the same time.

Pevero Golf Club

Alternatively, Pevero Golf Club is situated just 10 minutes away from Porto Cervo, overlooking the beautiful Costa Smeralda coastline. This is perhaps one of the most beautifully set courses you will ever set your eyes on, 18 hole, par 72, and demanding skill-wise.

Hiking

If golf isn't your thing, but you still want to get active, you can take part in many hiking trails around the island, all depending on where you're basing yourself. The improving weather makes for the ideal time to get out and about around Sardinia, and the east is perhaps the most dramatic part in terms of scenery.

Gola Su Gorropu is often referred to as Europe's Grand Canyon, and you will understand why when you see it, with 400m of sheer limestone walls in the ravine itself. Getting to the ravine is half the fun, which takes around five hours to complete. The track is 10.5km long and takes you through stunning scenery, passing wildlife as you go. Hiking is undoubtedly the best way to see the island.

San Giorgio Festival

Of course this time of year also marks Easter celebrations, and during Easter week itself you will find plentiful festivities, especially in Alghero, completing celebrations with fireworks on Easter Saturday. You should also make an effort to head to Bonnanaro, Bitti, or Onifai for 23 April and check out the San Giorgio Festival, with religious horseback processions.
