The Las Condes district has a number of outstanding hotels to choose from, and the Regal Pacific is another one of their affordable five-star options.  This upscale hotel is defined by windows, and each room has floor-to-ceiling views of the beautiful scenery surrounding Santiago.  The immaculately clean rooms feature elegant furnishings & trim, minifridges, and free Wi-Fi.  Breakfast is included for all guests, served in their classy restaurant that also has an amazing international lunch & dinner menu.  A wellness center includes a squash court, gym, indoor pool, and sauna.  Regal Pacific is within walking distance of Parque Araucano and less than 1km to the nearest metro station.

Hotel Loreto

Hotel Loreto is a great three-star lodging option for travelers who don't need all the trappings of Santiago's five-star hotels.  This hotel is situated near Cerro San Cristobal and the Santiago Zoo, as well as a number of great restaurants in the Bellavista neighborhood.  The building itself is an old rustic building with a small central courtyard and rooftop terrace.  The simple yet modern rooms are more than adequate with walk-in showers and wooden double doors that open onto small balconies.  There are no restaurants on-site but it does serve a continental breakfast.  The hotel is within walking distance to the nearest metro station.

Hotel Plaza El Bosque Ebro

The five-star Hotel Plaza El Bosque Ebro is located near the Costanera Shopping Center and Los Leones Golf Club in Las Condes.  Hotel Plaza features new rooms with classic furnishings and large modern bathrooms.  Suites with living rooms, kitchens, dining areas, and whirlpool tubs are also available.  Breakfast is included for all guests and is served in their rooftop restaurant.  This casual restaurant also serves a fantastic lunch and dinner menu, and offers great views of Santiago.  The rooftop also features an indoor pool, and the hotel includes a gym and game room.  This hotel is a five-minute walk from the nearest metro station.

Bars and Restaurants

Jewel of India

Jewel of India provides for a nice change of pace from what you normally might be eating while you're in Santiago.  This highly rated Indian restaurant is in Metropolitan Santiago near the Manuel Montt metro station.  The atmosphere is relaxed and casual with a friendly staff.  Some of the traditional Indian dishes you'll find on the menu include panner tikka masala, bhindi aloo masala, tandoori roti, and mango kulfi.  The Jewel of India also has a very accommodating vegetarian menu.  Jewel of India is open for lunch from Monday thru Saturday from 1PM to 3:45PM and for dinner Monday thru Saturday from 7PM to 11:45PM.

Barrica 94

Barrica 94 is a great late-night restaurant located in the Bellavista neighborhood.  Barrica 94 features an outstanding tapas menu and some of the best pisco sours you'll find in Santiago (that's saying a lot).  Prices are slightly on the high side but the ambience, food, and cocktails are worth it.  Some of their food items include charcuterie plates, smoked salmon, grilled octopus, shrimp pil pil, and pork ribs.  Barrica 94 has one of the most expansive wine lists in Santiago, served by the glass or bottle.  Reservations are accepted, and the restaurant is open at noon Monday thru Saturday.  Closing times are 2AM Monday & Tuesday, 3AM Wednesday, and 4AM Thursday thru Saturday.

Quinoa

A healthy, family-friendly restaurant in Las Condes is the moderately priced Quinoa restaurant.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert are all made with fresh, wholesome foods.  Some of their breakfast items include eggs benedict, chia pudding, and carrot muffins.  For lunch & dinner you'll find vegan pad thai, burgers, gnocchi, and numerous large salads that are meals in themselves.  Many gluten-free options are also available.  The dining room is light & airy and provides a wonderful ambience.  Quinoa is open Monday thru Friday from 8AM until 11PM and on Saturday from 9AM to 5PM.

El Diablito

Don't let the name scare you off El Diablito is actually quite warm and inviting with great service.  Even though it's open late it's still a restaurant you can take the kids to.  This is a fun place to make a stop in for some drinks; they have an outstanding beer menu featuring many local & imported craft beers, plus a large cocktail menu.  If you're getting hungry you can order from their bistro-style menu.  Ring the bell at your table for service.  They serve a variety of sandwiches, empanadas, and smothered fries.  El Diablito is located near Plaza de Armas and is open daily from 6PM to 3AM.

Things to do in Santiago in June

La Moneda Presidential Palace

The gorgeous Palacio de La Moneda is the current home of the Chilean president and many government offices, after having been moved from the nearby Plaza de Armas.  This impressive old building was once a mint and played a big part in the 1973 military coup you can still see bullet holes in the walls.  Try to plan your visit during the Changing of the Guard, an elaborate ceremony that takes place in the morning every two days.  This colorful display is full of horses, bands, and a lot of pomp & circumstance.  Tourists can see the Presidential Palace with a certified guide; these tours must be arranged at least seven days in advance.

Parque Bicentenario

Parque Bicentenario is one of Santiago's best green spaces, located in Vitacura and bordering the Mapoche River.  This 67-acre park is landscaped with over 4,000 trees and a lagoon with swans, flamingos, and other birds.  You can participate in many different activities within this favored park.  There are walking paths throughout, dotted with benches and trees for shade along the way.  You're probably not traveling with your dog but you can watch other dog owners take their dogs through the agility course.  There's a very nice, clean playground for the kids.  Food trucks often position themselves at the park on the weekends.

Quinta Normal Park

Quinta Normal Park is a good place to go when it looks like rain is approaching, and that's for the number of museums at the park.  At the center of it all is the National Museum of Natural History, which has a vast collection of fossils including dinosaur skeletons, whale skeletons, and Chilean wildlife.  Next to that is the Museum of Science and Technology, an interactive museum educational for both adults and kids.  The Railway Museum is at the other end of the park and has an interesting collection of historic locomotives.  Adjacent to the park are a few other museums, including the Museo Artequin, a hands-on artisan's museum.

Santiago National Museum of Fine Arts

One of the finest art museums in South America is the Santiago National Museum of Fine Arts in Parque Forestal.  This beautiful museum was established in the late 19th century and is the oldest museum in South America.  The museum contains sculptures and paintings of all types and from all periods.  The museum will take you through a number of rooms, all with different themes.  Many of the old oil paintings document the history of Chile and South America but there are also older works from Europe and Africa.  Guided tours are available in Spanish.  The museum is open Monday thru Saturday from 10AM to 6:45PM and admission is free.  You can also visit the nearby Museum of Visual Arts if you have some time left in the day.
