What's the Weather Like in Reykjavik in June

The winter is always special in Iceland but summer is just something else. June is the first official summer month in Reykjavik. June isn't as warm as July and August will be but there is conveniently less rain. If you want to do long day tours and pack lots into your trip - June is the month for this as there is no worrying about loosing light or getting caught in a huge down pour of rain. Make the most of the evening sun rays while you sip a beer.

There are 47 rooms in the hotel and three different types of rooms - the single room, twin room or feature room. All come with ensuite bathroom and TV.

The amenities offered are laundry service, parking, tour booking service, luggage service, hairdryers, bar, lounge and multilingual staff. They also have a very fair cancellation policy for those who would like to book but aren't 100% sure they'll make it.

Also based close to Hallgrímskirkja are the Atlantic Apartments/Rooms. These are ideal if you're looking for simple accommodation with all the amenities, such as WiFi, family rooms, helpful staff and a great location. Get cosy here and you won't want to leave. For those on a budget you're in luck as there is a happy hour from 4pm to 7pm. 

Skolabru

Classy Skolabru serve distinctly Icelandic food based on culture heritage and local culinary traditions. Open everyday from 5pm - 10pm. The rack of lamb, lobster soup, duck salad and creme brulee are all recommended options on the menu. If you're looking for beautifully displayed meals, fine wine and affordable food this the place for you. 

Things to Do in Reykjavik in June

Puffin Watching

June is one of the best months for Puffin Watching and 'Elding adventures at sea' offer a brilliant tour that runs from 15th May to the 15th August. You will be taken on boat to either Akurey or Lundey island, both islands are well known for their plentiful bird life. You will not only see puffins but eider ducks, arctic terns, guillemots and cormorants too. The captain will know the best spots to get as close as possible to the puffins for photos and a memorable exciting experience. During the tour, you will be educated on puffin facts and told lovely tales. Children as well as adults would thoroughly enjoy this tour.

Thingvellir National Park

Thingvellir National Park is the favourite stop on the Golden Circle route. It has been a national park since 1930 and in the 10th century the Vikings used it as a meeting place. Although it's out the way it's definitely worth a visit as the unique geology created a natural Amphitheatre, perfect for public speaking. Interestingly, it's the spot where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, they pull apart approximately 2 inches per year, this creates the Thingvellir Rift Valley. This location is ideal for photographers and anyone who is fond on taking photos. There is no fee at this site but if you're driving there is a small parking cost.

Art Festival is a biennal multidisciplinary festival with a special focus on new commissions and creative intersection of the arts, usually held around 1-17 June. The festival appeals to a range of ages and audiences. Enjoy the exhibitions, performances, contemporary and classical works in major culture venues and space throughout the city.
