What's the Weather like in Rethymnon in February

Temperature

While the highest temperature ever recorded in Rethymnon in February was a very balmy 25°C, the climate is more likely to average 10°C at this time of year. However, weather conditions can vary greatly throughout February in this Northern part of Crete, so it is always worth being prepared for some warmer days as well as some cooler ones.

February is the first month of the year where there is a hint of the warm, dry summer that is expected in this Aegean Island.

Rainfall

Expected precipitation falls to only 41mm for the entire month of February, which equates to approximately 13 days of the month experiencing any type of rainfall at all. On occasional days the rain will be heavy. But it is much more likely that visitors to the area will experience a short quick shower, not enough to spoil any trip to the area.

Sunshine

Though there are still only an average of 7 hours of daily sunshine throughout the shortest month of the year, the entire area seems to start gearing up for the start of spring in March. And with a new freshness in the air, the region starts to come alive.

With minimum average temperatures of a very mild 7°C, Rethymnon in February is still warmer than nearby island Santorini and offers substantially better weather than Mykanos, more in line with the temperatures forecast for Rhodes.
