    Protaras Weather for October 2018

What's the weather like in Protaras in October

October marks the end of the busy tourism season in Protaras, Cyprus and as things start to slow down in general, the weather begins to cool; some may say this is a welcome change!

The average temperature during October is a pleasant 22°C, with an average high of around 27°C still warm enough for plentiful water-sports, sunbathing, and beach fun, with an average sea temperature of around 26°C.

Evenings are noticeably chillier, at around 16°C, making an evening stroll down the promenade a wonderful activity to enjoy the cooler nights. Rain isn't generally a problem, and although it does happen during October, compared to the last few months, it is still low at around 19mm on average for the month.

    Sunshine Hours

The sun still certainly shines during October, with 10 long hours of sunlight to be expected per day.

October is a great time to enjoy Protaras' outdoor activities, as well as enjoying the slower pace of life which the end of tourism season brings.

    Protaras Hotels for October

Hoteliers begin to close down during October, signalling the end of the tourist season once more, however they are still open until generally the end of the month, with good deals to be found during this quieter time of the year. You could easily grab your last bit of beach hotel fun by booking at the Anastasia Beach Hotel, or the Tsokkos Odessa Hotel, with its free-form luxury swimming pool, a little treat of a memory to get you through the winter gloom back home.

Alternatively, the Tsokkos Gardens Hotel is a great choice, at a low price for its quality. Of course, you may want to go self-catering and take great advantage of the many bars and restaurants in close proximity to the area, in which case the Mandalena Apartments or the Debbie Xenia Hotel Apartments could be the ideal base for you.

Staying particularly central isn't so much of a problem during October, compared to the higher temperature months gone by, and it's much easier to explore, using your hotel as a base.

    Bars and Restaurants

Grab your last summer taste of authentic Greek-Cypriot cuisine by heading to Davidos Local Taverna or Kaoullas Tavern Restaurant, and grab some local kleftico served by friendly staff in a truly authentic atmosphere, before summer closes down until the follow year!

Of course, you might prefer to chow down something a little more international, in which case El Chico Mexican Restaurant offers a bright and colourful night out with a difference, with delicious Mexican food to fill your belly. Red Indian American Diner could also be your choice, with burgers and ribs to die for.

There aren't many clubs in Protaras, however the majority of bars stay open into the early hours of the morning, playing music and usually with entertainment acts on too. If you prefer serious clubbing action, one last time this summer, then head over to Ayia Napa for a real music extravaganza.

By the end of October, the majority of Protaras' bars and restaurants close their doors after another busy summer season, waving goodbye to customers until the following April. Despite that, Protaras continues to have plenty to offer those who wish to visit in the coming winter months.

Things to do in Protaras in October

October means national days and events in the area, and Cyprus as a whole. Head to Ayia Napa for the Medieval Festival and enjoy street theatre, plays, and concerts, along with a medieval market and exhibitions, all centred around the medieval monastery, a great place to visit regardless of the event.

On top of this, 1 October is Cyprus Independence Day, and you will find flags and events going on all over the island, including in Protaras. The main centre of proceeding is in Nicosia, with a large military parade which you will be able to see on TV, usually in the bars and restaurants around the resort.

The Greek National Day is also an October staple, on 28th of the month, and you will see flags adorning houses and restaurants throughout the resort, and indeed the island as a whole. This particular day is also known as Ohi Day.

The cooling weather doesn't mean beach fun stops, and Fig Tree Bay is still busy during October, with plentiful water-sports on offer, so boredom will never be an issue, however the cooler temperatures mean you can get out and shop a little easier than you can during the height of summer, and you may also be able to take advantage of end of season sales too. Ayia Napa is home to the Stathis Shopping Centre, and there are also large named stores in Limassol too. Protaras however still has its own fair share of shopping opportunities.
