June is Protaras, Cyprus is widely thought to be one of the best times to visit, because the weather is beautifully hot, yet totally bearable, the crowds aren't yet at their highest, and there is all manner of things to see and do.

Temperature

Wonderful summer temperatures of 24°C on average will greet you, however the average high reaches 30°C quite often, with a regular sea breeze to cool things down.

During the evening you can expect an average temperature of 18°C, meaning air-conditioning is a must-have to ensure a good night's sleep, however you don't have to worry about rain now summer is firmly in place, as June only experiences around 1mm of precipitation all month. The sun however shines constantly, with a huge 14 hours per day, meaning sun lotion is an absolute must.

Protaras Hotels for June

All-inclusive is a great idea if you're heading away as a family, cutting down on the constant need to buy endless soft drinks. With that in mind, Antigoni Hotel is a great choice, situated close to Kalamies Beach and Konnos Bay Beach, meaning you don't have to wander too far to meet the sea for a day at the beach. Alternatively, Crown Resorts Elamaris Hotel offers a complimentary buffet breakfast, so you can fill up before a full day's exploring the resort and all it has to offer, as well being in a great location, with a large on-site swimming pool too.

If you prefer self-catering, so you don't have to leave the sanctuary of your accommodation in the June heat, then Marlita Hotel Apartments offer beautiful surroundings, in landscaped gardens, with a top-notch restaurant on site, and the perfect spot for watching the stunning sunset over the ocean.

Bars and Restaurants

Trying some authentic Greek-Cypriot food is easy during summer season, with a variety of tavernas and restaurants open, many of them family run, such as Vangelis Tavern, where the food is as authentic as its ever going to get. Alternatively, Nikolas Tavern has some of the best kleftiko and beef stifado in the area, at very reasonable prices too. You can easily fill your belly for a low price if you stick to authentic fare.

If you're looking for somewhere to head for breakfast with a difference, then Zafiros Café is the perfect spot, overlooking the sea, offering a variety of different dishes to choose from.

We can't talk about places to eat and not mention Blue Spice. This is one of the most famous restaurants in Protaras, and it's a good idea to head there before the July and August tourist rush. Here you can dine on some seriously delicious dishes, as well as check out the on-site art gallery, featuring works by Swedish artist Carolina Alotus. Culture and food combined!

Things to do in Protaras in June

The higher temperatures in June means it's time to hit the water, and Malama Diving School is a great place to learn not only how to dive in the first place, but gain confidence from the friendly, experienced staff, ask any questions you need, and also the best place to head for advice on where to dive around the resort and surrounding area. First timers are welcome what better skill to learn whilst you're on holiday?

Keeping with the water theme, and June marks the Kataklysmos Festival, also known as the Festival of the Flood. Head over to Ayia Napa for the best of the celebrations, but prepare to get wet! The festival is held during the first weekend in June, spanning from Friday to Sunday, and you will find concerts, boat rides, dances, fairs, and lots of activities which basically span around water. Great fun for all the family, and a bit of culture throw in there for good measure too.

Whilst you're in Ayia Napa, head over to the WaterWorld water park for a great day out. This is one of the biggest water parks in the whole of Europe, and the Greek mythology theme makes it stand out. The Poseidon wave pool is great fun, and a fantastic way to cool down in the June heat.

Alternatively, nearer to Protaras you will find charming Kapparis and its laid-back vibe, however Kapparis Waterfun is the place to head for water activities with a difference, such as water-sofa rides, and sea kayaking, amongst many, many others.
