What's the Weather Like in Port El Kantaoui in November

Temperature

November sees average temperatures head further south to 17 °C as the winter really starts to set in. Being November you do get some added perks, such as cheap travel deals and vastly reduced crowds.

Taking a closer look at the month, November starts off with a respectable daily average temperature of 20.1°C, dropping to 18.3°C midway through the month, before reducing significantly again to 15.3°C. This represents a big difference in temperature over the month, so definitely look to book in early November if you want to experience 20°C warmth.

November's daytimes highs are fairly forgiving, coming in at 21°C, however night-time averages bring minimum temperatures down to around a chilly 12°C. Those highs of 21°C will allow you to hang out by the pool or take a walk along the beach during the day, but w'd advise packing some warm weather gear for the evenings.

Taking a look at the record books, the highest recent temperature in November reached 31°C on 5 November 2012, with a lowest recorded temperature of 1°C on 5 November 1986. These figures aren't exactly the norm, so don't bank too much on experiencing 31°C temperatures.

Rain

Though not the wettest month to visit the port, November is up there, with 5 days of rain fall to be expected over the month. Across November, Port el Kantaoui receives an average of 38 mm (1.5 inches) of rainfall.

Average Sunshine Hours

November still affords you a good amount ofaverage sunshine, with eight hours of sun, this means you can still make the most of your holiday, safely booking up short day trips.

Humidity

November suffers quite badly in the humidity stakes, coming it at 70%. This is little improvement from January, which is the most humid month of the year at 74%. You'll feel uncomfortable with a humidity level of 70%, but with all the air-conditioned venues we're sure this won't spoil your holiday.

November comes in at 14 km/h, equivalent to about 9 mph, or 8 knots (classed as a 'gentle breeze' on the Beaufort wind force scale). Overall, the maximum sustained wind speed in recent years has reached 78 km/h, that's equivalent to roughly 48 mph, or 42 knots (classed as a storm or a 'strong gale' on the Beaufort wind force scale).

Average Sea Temperature

The sea temperature maintains surprisingly mild, at 22°C so you could technically take a dip in the November seas if you're feeling brave.

The hotel operates a complimentary shuttle service to the private beach, which takes between 5 and 10 minutes. Port El Kantaoui Beach for November

The ports beach is broken up into two sections, North and South of the Medina. The Southernmost stretch is widely open to the public due to the absence of land grabbing beach-front hotels found to the north.

If you're in for a long stay, why not venture over to Hammamet, offering all the activities that you'll find in the Port, however it also boasts a genuine historic backdrop.

If you're feeling adventurous you can take a diving trip off the Tunisian coast. Waiting to be explored you'll find a submerged World War II shipwreck in the waters off Hammamet, vivid underwater flora in Hergla, amazing archaeological sites in Mahdia, secret caverns around Djerba, and colourful grouper fish off Port El Kantaoui.

Bars and Restaurants

Dar Albaraka can be found at the Sousse Medina (In Front the Great Mosque). The place is welcoming and the courtyard dining area is a real show stealer. The owner Omar is noted as being attentive pleasant, apparently he also offers Tunisian cooking classes! You'll find a good variety of Tunisian favourites on the menu, as well a good selection of wine.

Queen restaurant can be found in  Sousse. Expect lots of great fish dishes and couscous, to be enjoyed in the company of pleasant staff in the surroundings of a large airy terrace.

El Khella, is situated just inside the medina overlooking the Ribat. It has a wonderful ambiance with traditional decoration. A section of the roof slides back, giving a nice indoor-outdoor feel. Some dishes are traditional but others are surprisingly traditional, a real contemporary mix.

Things to do in Port El Kantaoui in November

Once you've explored the port we recommend taking a day trip west to Kairouan, one of Islam's most holy cities. The streets of Kairouan will be a stark contrast to what you've gotten used to in the more tourist friendly Port. Crumbling white-washed, blue and green edged houses hung with birdcages are intriguing and exotic. It was here that Arabs constructed their initial base in AD 670. Kairouan became so vital in the Islamic hierarchy that seven visits to this tiny place are comparable to one trip to Mecca.

To see carpets being made without all the haggling and aggressive sales techniques, the Centre des Traditions et des Métiers d'Art de Kairouan was conceived by ONAT to encourage local handicrafts. The rooms above are used to exhibit traditional methods for weaving, embroidery and carpet making. The artisans are often keen to show you how it's all done.

Also featuring on our 'to do' list is Monastir, a city on the central coast of Tunisia, in the Sahel area. Traditionally a fishing port, Monastir is now an up and coming tourist resort, its population is about 71,546.

Once there head on over to the Museum of Traditional Costume, found next to the Bourguiba mosque. The Museum of Traditional Costume plays host to an enviable collection of wedding dresses made from velvet, silk, gold and silver.

For those seeking traditional Tunisia, take a trip down to Hergla. It was completely wrecked during the Arab invasion but retains a fine 18th century mosque, with a dome built in the "tube-vaulting" technique found at Bulla Regia. It was built over the tomb of a 10th century holy man named Sidi Bou Mendil, who legend has it, was able to transform his handkerchief into a flying carpet.
