July Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the Weather Like in Port El Kantaoui in July

Temperature

July can be safely considered as peak season, with an average temperature of 28 °C. July experiences the least amount of rain and the most sunshine hours, so if you want to brag about an unspoilt sun-filled holiday, this might just be the month for you.

Let's look at things in more detail, July starts off with a comfortable daily average temperature of 27.2°C, gently creeping to 27.3°C midway through the month, before rising again to 27.8°C. This makes the run into August an ideal time to visit if sweltering temperatures are top of your agenda.

July's daytimes highs are blistering, coming it at 33°C, with night-time averages mercifully bringing minimum temperatures down to around 22°C. Those highs of 33°C can really leave a mark, so we'd advise packing some serious sun cream.

Time to dust off the history books, the highest recent temperature in July reached 47°C on 11 July 2012, with a lowest recorded temperature of 14°C on 12 July 2007. Of course these figures are not representative of day to day life in the port, so don't worry too much about all this talk of 47°C temperatures.

Rain

July takes its crown as the driest month of the year, with a paltry 1 day of rain fall to be expected over the month. Across July, Port el Kantaoui receives an average of 4 mm (0.2 inches) of rainfall.

Average Sunshine Hours

Not content with being the driest, July also stakes its claim to having the highest amount of sunshine, with fourteen hours of sun, this means you can really make the most of your holiday away, experiencing everything the Port and its neighbours have to offer.

Humidity

July doesn't fair too badly as far as relative humidity is concerned, coming it at 65%. This is a fair improvement from January, which is the most humid month of the year at 74%. You will still feel slightly uncomfortable with a humidity level of 65%, but with all the air-conditioned venues we're sure this won't spoil your holiday.

Wind

July comes in at 15 km/h, equivalent to about 10 mph, or 8 knots (classed as a 'gentle breeze' on the Beaufort wind force scale) so you won't be chasing your parasol down the beach too much. Overall, the maximum sustained wind speed in recent years has reached 46 km/h, that's equivalent to roughly 29 mph, or 25 knots (classed as a storm or a 'strong gale' on the Beaufort wind force scale).

Average Sea Temperature

A July trip wouldn't make sense without enjoying the sea temperature averages of 26°C.

Port El Kantaoui Hotels in July

Royal Kenz Hotel' pools had a revamp for 2014 and it clearly shows. There are two outdoor pools lined by palms. The hotels beach is also less than a 10-minute walk from the door. The hotel boasts four restaurants, including two that specialise in Indian and Italian flavours, not to mention a steakhouse. For more culinary choice, it's less than a 5-minute taxi ride to the centre of Port el Kantaoui.

At Soviva Resort you get 24-hour room service as a standard and free parking. It's a good choice for a family holiday and it's situated within the entertainment district. Particular highlights include a health club and a nightclub.

Houria Palace Hotel is a contemporary looking hotel, 300 metres from Port El Kantaoui. This hotel will appeal to a range of holiday makers, from singles and couples to families looking for centrally located accommodation. Breakfast, dinner and daily specials are served in the insitu El Fell Restaurant and you can get a light meal in the Bistro Bar and at the Barbecue in summer. There is also an a la carte restaurant, a traditional Tunisian Moorish cafeteria and a Mexican bar. Finally there is the El Balda salon bar complete with a pianist.

Port El Kantaoui Beach for July

With daytime highs of highs of 33°C and an average temperature of  28°C July offers jaw dropping beach weather.

The ports beach is divided into two sections, North and South of the Medina. The Southernmost stretch is more public friendly, due to the absence of land grabbing beach-front hotels common to the northern stretch. Right the way up the beaches you'll find a constant supply of water sports offers, so be prepared to haggle! Our recommendation is to keep an eye out for the well-equipped RIU hotels who offer a variety of well managed activities.

If you're in for a long stay, why not venture over to Hammamet' beach. Hammamet offers all the activities that you'll find in the Port, however it also boasts a genuine historic backdrop.

Why not take advantage of the crystal clear waters by going on a diving trip off the Tunisian coast. Waiting to be explored you'll find a submerged World War II shipwreck in the waters off Hammamet, vivid underwater flora in Hergla, amazing archaeological sites in Mahdia, secret caverns around Djerba, and colourful grouper fish off Port El Kantaoui. A small diving centre at the Port is also open to public, it's called Sdanek Club and can be found by the dry dock at the entrance to the Marina.

Bars and Restaurants

Arcobaleno benefits from a panoramic position overlooking Port El Kantaoui. Due to its elevated position you get a nice breeze on the upper terrace, perfect for cooling off. The ice creams reap praise, as does the selection of fresh fruits.

Golf Brau offers good service and is actually one of the few micro-breweries in the Port. They serve a range of home brewed beer and serve it up with olives and popcorn snacks.

High Square is a friendly café that is noted for serving excellent food. It's a tad pricey compared to the other places nearby but you get extras such as free internet. Waiting time for food can be long in peak period and they do allow smoking indoors.

Things to do in Port El Kantaoui in July

Why not make the most of the sun and head on a Catamaran Tour, setting sale from the Marina. The cost roughly comes in at around twenty pounds for a few hours sailing and there are a few options to pick from, so don't be afraid to barter. You will have to book your trip at the Marina itself, but we understand that the 'Albatross' is a popular tour, so look out for the name on the side of the boat.

If you're growing tired of the Ports lack of authenticity and culture, head to Hammamet and check out the Roman site of Pupput. The site sits 6.5km southwest of the Hammamet town centre. Today, the site is now squeezed between Hammamet's hotels and nightclubs, but it was once a staging post on the Roman road from Carthage to Hadrumetum. Historians believe that its name suggests it once housed a Punic settlement. The Byzantine and Roman remains are few and far between, but history lovers will certainly get a kick out of it. The 5th-century House of Figured Peristyle maintains a couple of columns and a patch of mosaic flooring, however the Byzantine tomb wall mosaics steal the show.

Take a 15 minute trip to Sousse and get your fill of culture at the Museum Dar Essid. This small and private museum is nestled in a quiet part of the medina, it occupies a beautiful old home. Elaborately decorated with an arched door, you'll immediately be wowed by its presence.
