Located in the Quintana Roo province of Mexico, Playacar is home to some of the most luxurious hotels, restaurants and attractions in the Playa del Carmen area. It's developed and grown over the years from a small fishing town to one of Mexico's most sought-after resorts.

You can expect low temperatures to drop down slightly to 23°C (around 74°F), still warm and pleasant for enjoying time outdoors in the evenings between the raindrops. The highs go up to 31°C (about 87°F), hot for this time of year, especially when compared to many areas in Europe. Be sure to pack your short-sleeved shirts and shorts, and you'll also want an umbrella or poncho, as the heavy rains continue into this month.

Langosteria Maya Restaurant

The exterior of the Langosteria Maya Restaurant looks just like an authentic straw hut, giving diners a fun atmosphere to enjoy the establishment's Mexican take on fish and seafood. Thanks to large size, this is a good choice for bigger groups dining together and it is also family-friendly. If you're too tired from the day's adventures to eat in, take your meal to go or even have it delivered.

Fiesta Margarita

You can't visit Mexico without tasting a delicious margarita and the Fiesta Margarita stand in Playa del Carmen is just the place to try one. This tiny stands serves margaritas, frozen and on the rocks, as well as numerous Mexican beers. Things to do in Playacar in October

Plaza Playacar

Get out of the October rain and check out some of the great shopping that exists in Playacar. Plaza Playacar is the largest shopping center in Playacar and fits in well with its surroundings, designed in traditional Maya style. Wares you'll find here include jewelry and clothing from Mexico and the Caribbean, as are handmade goods and trinkets. The center also has several restaurants if you need a quick break from shopping.

Scuba Caribe

One place where the rain doesn't matter is under the surface of the warm late summer waters. Scuba Caribe has a base in Playacar and offers diving experiences along the Riviera Maya. The office is located right on the beachfront with easy access from the shoreline hotels and gives divers access to over 10 different local underwater sites. There's even a "bubblemakers" course for kids that teaches the basics of scuba.

Dressel Drivers

If scuba isn't in your thing, you can still enjoy the amazing underwater sights of Playacar by snorkeling in its pristine waters. Dressel Drivers offers snorkeling tours that take you out to the best snorkeling sights off the coast of Playa del Carmen. You can rent all the equipment you need from them or they also sell affordable snorkeling gear. Several tours are available including snorkeling near Cozumel and snorkeling combined with tours of the Mayan ruins.
