Fiesta del Carmen

In the nearby resort of Puerto de Mógan, the Fiesta del Carmen celebrates the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen. While Playa Taurito is a quiet resort, it makes a great base for exploring Gran Canaria. The resort of Maspalomas is just a 20 minute drive away from Playa Taurito and makes a great day trip. The area is known for its beautiful natural scenery, including sand dunes formed by sand blown from 250km away in the Saharan Desert.
