    Temperature

    August is the hottest month of the year in Playa Taurito as the summer season hits its peak. This makes it one of the most popular times for holiday makers who flock here to enjoy the guarantee of great weather. Average temperatures hit an agreeable 23°C during August, with sizzling highs of 26°C which occur mostly towards the end of the month. The resort never feels too hot though, as Gran Canaria is a mountainous island with trade winds that prevail all year round. Serving seafood fresh from the port, dishes include authentic paella, tapas and Spanish-style soups and chowders. A superb spot for lunch or dinner with an outdoor seating area overlooking the water.

    Another fantastic option near the harbour is Basil's Bistro. This friendly restaurant also makes great use of its local produce, serving a range of traditional Canarian dishes and tapas. The sangria is worth a try too. Space at Basil's Bistro is somewhat limited, so make sure to book a table.

    Bacio Pastifrulligelleria

    After dinner, treat yourself to dessert at Bacio Pastifrulligelleria which is also located in Puerto de Mógan. This ice-cream parlour has a fabulous selection of flavours as well as smoothies, crepes and great coffee.

A perfect way to cool off in the heat of summer.

    Cycling is a great way to see Gran Canaria and get your adrenaline running. Just along the coast in Puerto de Mógan, holiday makers can hire both road bikes and mountain bikes, depending on what type of ride you're planning. The park is located in Fataga near Playa del Ingles, just along the coast from Playa Taurito and is set in beautiful rocky mountains.
