Palma Nova is a resort town on Majorca, one of Spain's busiest and most popular islands. It is a great place to relax and spend quality time with friends and families. Lots of establishments have been built up in the areas that are sure to cater every type of visitor's needs during their stay. December is a slow month in Palma Nova as many of the younger visitors and tourists with children have already departed for the season.

In December, some of those places are closed but there are still plenty that are operating. Some of the best hotels include the the Hotel Son Matias Beach and the Torrenova Marina, all of which are open year-round.

Hotel Son Matias Beach (Duque de Extremera 2) is a modern, 4-star hotel that caters to mature, adults-only crowd. Each one of its 135 rooms are equipped with balcony, mini fridge, telephone, A/C, heating, radio, satellite TV, and safe. Rooms for the disabled are on request. Facilities include jacuzzi, sun terrace, pool bar, swimming pool and restaurant that serves typical Mallorcan cuisine and traditional British dishes.

Hotel Marina Torrenova (Avda. Torrenova 6) is an adults-only all-inclusive. The resort includes meals, snacks, most drinks, and some activities. Located just 16 km from the airport, the hotel is within walking distance to several beaches, restaurants, shops, and bars. Onsite facilities include A/C, pool, children's splash-pool, restaurant, free wifi, and game room.

The beaches of Palma Nova are just a short 15 km west of the airport. The sands tend to be quieter and more tranquil than those in Magaluf. Palma Nova has three beaches, all of which are family-friendly, with fine sand and crystal blue water. Alongside all beaches are restaurants, bars, and free car parking.

Playa de Son Maties is the main beach, with sunbeds, umbrellas and showers. This beach is a 600-metre stretch of fine sand, good for enjoying water activities like boating or windsurfing. Es Carregador is a small cove with a protected swimming spot. Here is where you can find all the bars and nightclubs. Playa Palma Nova is a nice middle ground, at 1 kilometre interspersed with small playgrounds. It's a great place for families and couples alike.

There are a ton of restaurants in Palma Nova as well from fast foods to gourmet dining to all you can eat buffets. One can never go hungry in Palma Nova. Many of the bars and clubs that populate the nightlife scene are only open on the weekends in the wintertime as most of their patrons have already migrated back inland for the winter.

Zen Lounge Bar and Grill (Son Matias Beach) offers a selection of grill delights like fish, calamari, fajitas, and a wide range of cocktails and beer.

Il Vicolo (Paseo del Mar 16) serves superb, authentic Italian food like pasta, bruschetta, and baked aubergine. The menu is limited but uncomplicated and freshly prepared. Part of the restaurant's charm lies in the rustic decor. A friendly stop on the seaside.

Aside from Christmas, there are only a few other holidays or festivals in Palma Nova in December. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception (La Inmaculada Concepcion) is a Spanish national holiday observed on the 8th and Santos Inocentes, the Spanish equivalent of April Fool's Day, is celebrated on the 28th.
