The start of the school summer holidays is heralded by a period of dry weather across much of the UK<\/a>, with good spells of sunshine, patchy cloud and temperatures staying just above average for many.<\/p>\n

There is a chance of\u00a0thundery showers, but\u00a0the signs are currently that a\u00a0settled pattern with high pressure\u00a0may well continue to dominate for several days to come.<\/p>\n

Eddy Carroll,\u00a0Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office<\/a>, said: “The rest of July will see temperatures into the mid to high twenties\u00a0in places and, although there is a risk of showers, for most the fine, largely dry and warm weather\u00a0looks like it could well\u00a0persist into August.”<\/p>\n

The site is also interactive so visitors can share their Great British Summer stories and photos via blogs, and Met Office\u2019s\u00a0Facebook<\/a>, and\u00a0Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n
