The Met Office is forecasting a fairly settled start to the tennis tournament, with a good deal of dry weather and only a risk of the occasional shower.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/shutterstock_1103977253.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1646\" title=\"shutterstock_110397725\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/shutterstock_1103977253.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/shutterstock_1103977253.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/shutterstock_1103977253-300x196.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Met Office forecasters will be on-site at Wimbledon during the tournament to provide organisers and ground staff with detailed forecasts so they can plan ahead for the conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Kelly, Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster,\u00a0said: &#8220;Even small amounts of rainfall can affect play and interfere with the playing schedule so one of the main challenges for the organisers, and us forecasters, is predicting that rainfall. For a 14-day weather forecast for Wimbledon,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/wimbledon\/\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wimbledon weather facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The warmest Wimbledon Championship on record was 1976, where temperatures averaged 25.4 \u00b0C.<\/li>\n<li>In 1997, 118.3 mm of rain fell during the championships, making it the wettest Wimbledon on record.<\/li>\n<li>A day&#8217;s play has only been totally rained off 32 times in its 125 year history.<\/li>\n<li>There have been seven years where rain did not interrupt play at all &#8211; 1931, 1976, 1977, 1993 and 1995, 2009 and 2010.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Glastonbury<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the weather is also looking relatively fine and dry for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/glastonbury_gb\/\">South West<\/a> next week ahead of the 43rd\u00a0Glastonbury Festival.
