{"id":1052,"date":"2013-11-17T18:16:36","date_gmt":"2013-11-17T18:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/?p=1052"},"modified":"2014-07-14T10:10:16","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T10:10:16","slug":"the-future-is-bright-the-future-is-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/the-future-is-bright-the-future-is-england\/","title":{"rendered":"The future is bright, the future is England&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At World Travel Market in London,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitengland.org\/\">VisitEngland,<\/a> the national tourist board, announced that according to the Great Britain Tourism Survey the number of domestic overnight holiday trips was up by 9 per cent in Great Britain and 9 per cent in England during July this year compared to the same time last year, with visitors spending \u00a31.8billion over the month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_158921951.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1053\" title=\"shutterstock_158921951\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_158921951-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_158921951-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_158921951.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/country\/uk\/\">good weather<\/a> during the summer helped to boost tourism in this country, according to VisitEngland\u2019s latest Staycation research.\u00a0 12 per cent of people said they had changed their holiday plans as a result of the weather to spend more of their holidays in the UK. 18-34 year olds (23 per cent) and families (19 per cent) were more likely to have changed their plans because of the weather and over half of all holidaymakers (56 per cent) in England enjoyed good weather this year.\u00a0 17 per cent said they were more likely to take a holiday in England next year because of the weather in 2013.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_73411420.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1054\" title=\"shutterstock_73411420\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_73411420-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_73411420-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.holiday-weather.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_73411420.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>James Berresford, VisitEngland\u2019s Chief Executive said:\u00a0\u201cClearly the 588 hours of sunshine this year has been a boost for domestic tourism.\u00a0 Operators have reported increased visitor numbers this year and are seeing positive forward bookings.
