If one word could sum up July in Naples, it would be 'hot'!
July is the hottest month of the year in Naples, and it is also the month which experiences the most in the way of sunshine hours. For anyone who loves summer explorations in beautiful cities, then July is the month to go, with an average temperature of around 25°C, which easily reaches a blistering 30°C as an average high. July is certainly festival month in Naples, with several important events going on during the month. The Neapolis Festival is a huge deal, which draws massive crowds, and brings together international and local bands to enjoy concerts.
Alternatively, maybe Pizzafest is more your thing! Obviously, Naples is the home of pizza, and during this 10 days' long celebration of the famous dish, pizza makers from all over the country come together to fight over who makes the best pizza.
Festa Della Madonna del Carmine
Festa Della Madonna del Carmine also takes place during July, and is held in Piazza del Carmine. This is a religious celebration which takes place the night before the official saint's day. Look towards the church tower and you will see that celebrations make the tower look like it is on fire it's not however, don't worry!
We can't avoid the fact that July is also the hottest month of the year in Naples, and that means you will be wanting to get out and cool down in the sometimes intense heat. Kayak Napoli is a great way to do just that, offering tours to take you to quieter parts of the bay, where you can swim, snorkel, learn to kayak, and even paddle board. They even offer night tours when there is a full moon. Heading to the beach is a must do when temperatures are high, however do remember sun protection, as the July sun is intense to say the least.
Once you've had enough of swimming and splashing, head back to sightseeing. One of the most famous views of the whole of Naples and surrounding area is from the top of Castle Sant'Elmo. The castle itself is beautiful and certainly worth an exploration, however visitors tend to avoid the interior of the church for the famous view from the top, heading straight up and walking around the ramparts to click away on their cameras. You can't blame them, on a clear day this is a simply stunning view.
