Montego Bay Weather January Averages, Jamaica

Montego Bay Weather for January 2023

What's the Weather Like in Montego Bay in January

January may be the coldest month to visit Montego Bay, but it's also a very popular one. Out of the Atlantic hurricane season, away from the wet season, January enjoys cooler temperatures compared to the previous months, whilst also being very warm indeed.

    Temperature and Average Sunshine Hours

An average temperature of 25°C greets visitors, making getting around the resort and surrounding area a little easier, reaching a high of 28°C, before falling to a comfortable 21°C during the evening hours. The sun also shines in abundance, with an average of 9 hours to be expected.

Whilst rain is possible during January, with an average of 70mm throughout the month, outbursts, as always in Jamaica, are often very short-lived, and leave behind cooler, more refreshing conditions after the passing storm.

    Average Sea Temperature

It's also very possible to enjoy water-sports and swimming in January, with a very comfortable sea temperature of 27°C, so perhaps snorkelling and scuba diving could be a suggestion.

Of course, traditional winter season in other countries throughout the world means visitors flock to the Caribbean during the first few months of the year, seeking sun and relaxation in much warmer conditions, so do be aware that crowds may be more so during this time. Despite that however, there is plenty to keep even the most fidgety of visitors occupied.

    Montego Bay Beach for January

    Doctor's Cave Beach Club

Doctor's Cave Beach Club enjoys a legacy as one of the most famous and enduring beaches in Jamaica, and for good reason. The beach derives its name from Dr. Alexander James McCatty, who established a sanatorium in Montego Bay in the 1880s and allowed his friends to bathe on his beach, which was entered through a cave. In 1906, he donated the property to the public and a private member's club was formed. Flanked by palm trees, this is a quintessentially Caribbean beach that comprises azure, calming waters and white sands. The beach has a host of facilities, such as bar, restaurant, showers, changing facilities and snorkel gear hire. The beach can be entered for a small fee.
