Mojacar Weather December Averages, Spain
What's the weather like in Mojacar in December?
Let's start with the bad news: December is the darkest month in Mojacar, with the shortest days. And the good news? Those days still have 7 hours of sunshine, meaning you still have plenty of time to explore this resort to your heart's content!
On top of that, even though it might be winter, you can still get the chance to go swimming in the sea. Average temperatures in the water are around 19°C this month, even despite the lateness of the year!
One of the great points about coming for a Christmas visit is also that you will see less rain here than in November or January. Just 20mm will fall, and even though that is spread over 11 days, that just means that there is every chance that each shower you encounter will be a very short one. You might wish to keep an eye on the forecast to see when these showers are going to show up, however, and to see how the heat is doing.
The daily average is 13°C at this time of year, though it's worth noting that highs can go up as far as 16°C. Do pack a coat and jumper, however: when it does drop to its lowest point, it's likely to be around 9°C. Still, the climate is generally a favourable one and is certainly not always so cold!
All of which is not to say that a coast holiday is a bad idea in winter. If you move further inland for example, to nearby Granada you will find that the weather is even colder. It will drop to a daily average of 7°C there. This is something that you should also bear in mind if you are planning any day trips, as you may have to wrap up warmer than you do near your hotel.
Hotels in Mojacar in December?
The Asigna Ruleta Andalucia Mojacar
Since the beach is not a priority in December, you can consider going a bit further inland. The Asigna Ruleta Andalucia Playa Mojacar is a bed and breakfast with real local charm. It's located right in the village of Mojacar, and while the beach may be a little further away, you get to enjoy all of the local amenities instead.
Hostal Casa Justa
The Hostal Casa Justa is a great choice for this time of year too. Their facilities include a spa and Jacuzzi, and the rooms have private bathrooms for you to enjoy. Not only that, but it won't break the bank, and is perfect for couples who want to enjoy a romantic stay.
Pension El Torreon B&B
Another bed and breakfast option is the Pension El Torreon B&B. There are only five rooms here so privacy levels are high, and the shared kitchen is fully equipped. It is a beautiful townhouse with balcony views on each side. It also allows you to bring your own pets!
Bars and Restaurants
Great prices await you at Samber, a tapas and seafood restaurant with a lively bar area. Enjoy comfy sofas instead of stuffy chairs, in a beautifully designed location. It's near to the beach, allowing you to look out of the windows and enjoy the view when you visit. If you're just thirsty, stop by for a drink at any time.
Restaurante Delfin Dorado
The Restaurante Delfin Dorado is a family-run restaurant with plenty of charm, though it may not look like much from the outside. Once you see the dolphin sign, head inside for great food on a set price menu. Vegetarians will struggle, but for everyone else it is great value. There is a good range of options even on the set menu, so you are sure to find something that you enjoy eating.
El Antler Restaurante
El Antler Restaurante also has its own charm, even though it may be somewhat on the small side. It's a cosy little restaurant with lots of choice available on the menu of the day, and a lot of big praise for its food. The wine menu is also fantastic and is certainly something to look out for if you want to spend the evening there!
Things to Do in Mojacar in December
As it does get cold in December, you might want to think about some indoor activities. You could try out Ozone Bowling, which is perfect for a fun day or evening with family or friends. Besides the bowling lanes, there are also sports machines and skill-based games here as well as arcade machines. For later, there are drinks and food served at the bar. They also have tournaments and leagues here, so if you are staying for a while, you may be able to entertain yourself with some competition.
