    Tourists flock to Melbourne at Christmas in search of sunshine. And with an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day, Christmas is the perfect time of the year to catch some rays. The city gets decked out in festive lights and Christmas trees and you can swap your traditional Christmas roast for a barbecue on the beach. The water temperatures are 16°C, attracting swimmers into the sea.

    The Christmas Day average temperature for 2016 was a scorching 27°C. And in 2017 and 2016 it averaged out at 18°C. Temperatures for all three Christmas Days would have climbed in the afternoon.
