    November is usually one of the wettest months of the year in Malta, although there can be significant variation between one November and the next, depending on how frequent and how far south the low pressure systems are.


    At this time of the year, the average temperature starts off at 19°C in the first few months and gradually drops down to 15.5°C in the final few days. Daily highs decrease from 22°C down to 18°C and daily lows fall from 16°C to 13°C as the month develops.

    Since 1987, the highest maximum temperature which has ever been recorded in Malta in November is 28.9°C, which was registered in 1990. On the other hand, the lowest minimum temperature ever recorded on the island during November is 5.7°C, which was registered in 1995.

    Temperatures in excess of 25°C are occasionally recorded when a burst of southerly winds brings hot air up from northern Africa, but temperatures in excess of 30°C do not occur in November.

    Average Sea Temperature

    The average sea temperature for Malta in November is 22°C. We all feel sea temperature differently, so whilst some people might find this the ideal temperature to enjoy a dip during their holiday, other people might find it a bit too cold.

    Malta stays relatively humid all-year-round, thanks to the surrounding sea. During November, the average daily relative humidity for the island is around 75%, which is quite high for this time of year. This statistic is made up of lows of 60% (mildly humid) and highs of 94% (very humid).

    Those on a tight budget can consider the Solana Hotel at Gorg Borg Olivier St, Mellieha. The 4* hotel and spa is a decent price considering it has such excellent amenities. It's located in Mellieha, a beautiful Mediterranean village. If you don't plan to stay here it's definitely worth visiting the area. Travel, luxury, beaches, lovely cuisine and sports opportunity are all packed into one place at Solana Hotel. 

    Malta Beach for November

    November is not one of the best times of the year to hit the beach, since the weather is often cool and wet. If you do get a dry and sunny day during your holiday, there is a handful of beaches you can choose form.

    The beach at the Blue Lagoon is a great place to spend the day. If the sun isn't out, you can have hours of fun exploring the various caves, coves and cliffs the beach is known for. The small bay holds shallow, azure-coloured water  and injot's located on the West coast of Comino. This major tourist attraction is definitely worth visiting; it's enjoyable for children too. 

    The fairly secluded Ramla Bay on the island of Gozo is another top place to soak up some rays if the sun is out. It's the largest sandy beach in Gozo and has a rugged natural feel to it. See the statue of the Virgin Mary on the sand; this also attracts tourists. This beach is lined by numerous snack bars, providing you with plenty of choice when it comes to lunchtime.

    Bars and Restaurants

    Malta has many excellent restaurants, and regardless of your tastes, chances are you and your group will be catered for. The Arches, at George Borg Olivier Street, Mellieha, is a good option for French, Mediterranean and international dishes. This restaurant is also widely renowned for serving excellent wines.

    Fans of seafood can consider Wigi's Kitchen, situated at Main Street, Saint Julian's, which also serves international and Italian dishes alongside various seafood. Tuck into a succulent steak and top it off with delicious strawberry meringue for dessert. 

    Trabaxu, located at 1 Triq id-Dejqa/Strait Street, Valletta, is a high quality wine bar which also serves Mediterranean snack food. Entertainment comes in the form of jazz and blues background music, making it a top spot for music lovers in the mood for some quality food and excellent wines.

    A popular nightclub is the Footloose Fun Bar, at St. George's Road, Paceville, Saint Julian's. This club is made up of a bar, chill-out zone and dance floor, making it a great choice whatever you're in the mood for. Weekends are the best time to visit. 

    Things to do in Malta in November

    There are loads of interesting historical sites in Malta that are worth a visit. St. John's Co-Cathedral at St. John Street, Valletta boasts spectacular architecture inside the main area of worship. This church is open from 9:30am to 4:30pm on Mondays to Fridays and 9:30am to 12:30pm on Saturdays. The church has a number of tapestries to admire and there is a book shop that also sells souvenirs. Photography is permitted, provided that no flash is used. The Oratory is recommended for a visit, which includes two works by the artist Caravaggio.

    Mdina Old City boasts spectacular views over the surrounding area, as well as a wide variety of old, attractive buildings and souvenir shops. There is a cathedral inside the main square and the Mdina Dungeons and the National History Museum of Malta are also located inside the city. To get the most out of visiting Mdina Old City, a guided tour is recommended. The Mdina Experience – an audio-visual show – is also worthy of note for those who want to learn more about the history of the place.

    The Point at Tigne Point, Sliema is a popular shopping centre which houses a wide variety of shopping stores. This centre also arranges special party events which are particularly tailored towards children. In addition to the shops and party venue, the Point also features restaurants, some of which boast views over the sea front. The building has three floors and has approximately 1,000 car parking spaces.

    St Martin’s Day

    10th November 2019

    St Martin’s Day is one of Malta’s most traditional festivals. This event is celebrated in Baħrija, with stalls laden with fruits, nuts and other local treats. A small street procession during which a statue of St Martin is displayed also takes place and San Anton School organises a walk to a cave specially associated with St Martin on this day.
