Things to do in Madeira in July

July is a great month to visit parks in Madeira, when the flowers are blooming at the sun is shining. The Presidential Palace Garden is one of the best on the island and features landscaped gardens, miniature cottages and all sorts of tropical flowers. There are several walking paths you can follow and numerous benches where you can rest.

If you love stunning views, make sure you stop by Faja dos Padres a lookout point with incredible vistas stretching across the sea. This site is best visited on a clear day and with so little cloud coverage in July, you'll be spoilt for choice. After soaking up the views, you can take a lift down to the bottom of the cliff and enjoy a leisurely lunch at the café before hitting the nearby beach.

Head to the Workers' Market if you want to pick up some local produce in a classically Madeiran setting. Located in downtown Funchal, this open market buzzes throughout the day and sells a variety of fresh produce; tropical fruits, vegetables and spices can be found on the first floor, while meats and fish are for sale downstairs. 

Madeira Aquarium is a great place to spend the morning or afternoon if the weather's not looking too promising. Situated in Porto Moniz, the aquarium occupies the historic fortress building of St. John the Baptist and showcases a variety of local marine life.
