July is one of the warmest months of the year in Lisbon, and there is so much to do around the city.

Temperature

The average temperature reaches up to a very warm 27°C (that's about 81°F), and temperatures never dip any lower than 18°C (about 63°F). The lowest temperature on record for July was 13°C. Seven days a month the mercury will top 32°C. It has never gone below 21°C during thirty years of record keeping.

Rainfall

There is very little chance of showers as the average monthly rain is only around 6mm. you might experience 5 rainy days during July but it will not last very long. The dominant wind direction remains southeast and the Beaufort wind probability reaches its year highs at 50%. This consistency is what brings the World Cup surfing to Lisbon every year.

The Rossio Garden Hotel for example is newly renovated and right by the Rossio Train Station. Sao Jorge Castle is a 15 minute walk and the Resauradores Metro Station is practically at the doorstep of the entrance.

Sofitel Lisbon

Sofitel Lisbon is also on Avenida da Liberdade. A 5-star property, they have a great breakfast and many amenities that one expects from a Sofitel 5-star. Sao Roque church is very close. If you're looking to walk around Lisbon and see the landmarks this is in a perfect location.

The Solar Dos Mouros

The Solar Dos Mouros has amazing views of the city and breakfast in your room or served on the terrace is included. All rooms have TVs, private bathrooms and some have views of the river. The bedrooms are spacious and light, ideal for weekends away. Families, friends and couples are welcome here.

Alfama Patio Hostel

The Alfama Patio Hostel is a real bargain option in Santiago. Containing private rooms as well as dormitories, free Wi-Fi is provided. There is a rooftop terrace and a garden area. A pancake breakfast is provided each morning for all guests.

Teatro Bed & Breakfast

The Teatro Bed & Breakfast is a quaint hotel with French ambiance. All rooms have private baths. There is a buffet breakfast served each morning. Two minutes away is the Rossio subway station.

Lisbon Beaches in July

Carcavelos

Carcavelos is a very popular local beach. The Forte de Sao Juliao da Barra on the east side of the beach is a famous fortification that used to protect the entrance to the Tagus from Portugal's enemies. As with many beaches in Portugal, surfing is the most popular sport practiced on these shores and the area is popular with teenagers in particular.

Praia Do Pescador

If you are a fisherman, try the Praia Do Pescador or Fisherman's beach. As the name suggests, it is very popular with anglers and hence swimmers are not usually found here.

Bars and Restaurants

A Magem

A Magem in Belem is a locally famous family owned eatery. Their custard tart is so popular that they sell on average 20,000 a day. Not cheap, the lines are long as it is not only a favourite with the locals but is a tourist attraction also.

Bistro Edelweiss

Sometimes local fare gets tiring. For something different, the Swiss cooking at the Bistro Edelweiss on Rua da Sao Marcal is an excellent choice. The neighborhood is quiet and the décor simple but elegant.

Come Prima Restaurante Italiano

Italian is always good and the Come Prima Restaurante Italiano on Rua do Olival serves all your favourite Italian dishes. Atmosphere and service are considered top notch.

Stanislav Avenida

Another favourite non-Portuguese style restaurant in this international city is the Stanislav Avenida. Ukranian fare is served here.

Gelato

For a frozen treat on a hot summer's day the Gelato has some of the best Italian gelatos in town. Highly recommended by travelers, the ice cream is renowned throughout Lisbon.

Frade dos Mares

A reasonably priced dinner option but with a very stylish atmosphere try the Frade dos Mares. A small but stylish interior, the portions are large and service what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. Seafood is their specialty.

Cantinho Lusitano

Cantinho Lusitano is another medium priced eatery specializing in simple Portuguese fare such as chicken and sausage. The place is small so reservations are necessary.

Clara em Castelo

Clara em Castelo only has six tables but the food and wine and service make it worth the possible wait. The menu is small but the husband and wife team cook and serve an unforgettable meal.

The Ad Lib

The Ad Lib serves lunch and dinner and has two menus. The lunch menu is simple but varied and the dinner menu is much more detailed.

Things to do in Lisbon in July

Estoril Music Festival

The Estoril Music Festival features a wide range of symphony orchestras and classical performances in and around Lisbon. The popular music festival is enjoyed by adults and teenagers and is always held in July when the sun is shining.
 

Lisbon by Boat

Rather than walking around the streets, try the Lisbon by Boat tour. It is a great way to see the city from the river and orient yourself. You will then get to know your way around the city quickly and get your bearings.

Parque Marechal Carmona

One of the many parks in Lisbon worth visiting is the Parque Marechal Carmona. The paths in this park are unpaved but the gardens are very well kept and there are plenty of places for the children to play.

Sing Fado

Fado is the famous Portuguese style of music. A great place to not only become knowledgeable in the history of the music style but also learn how to sing it yourself is at the Sing Fado.
