    Lisbon Hotels in June

    York House

    Santos is a great area to stay in when visiting Lisbon and there are lots of good hotels to choose from here. The York House option provides beautiful surroundings with all the amenities in a historical location. The hotel used to be a Carmelite Convent and the architecture is 17th century. It is only a ten-minute walk from city centre.

    Palacio Ramalhete

    Another Santos stable, also very historical, is the Palacio Ramalhete. Formerly an 18th century palace, the antique furniture complements the décor nicely. In Janelas Verdes, there is a great pool and nice lounge area. The National Museum of Ancient Art is right outside your doorstep if you stay here.

    Oasis Backpaker's Mansion

    There are also some bargain hotels in the Santos area. The Oasis Backpaker's Mansion has a communal kitchen, nice indoor lounge area with a fireplace and serves a buffet breakfast. There is also a cocktail hour each night. A second option for the minimalist traveller is the Hostel Bairrio Alto near the Baixa/Chiado Metro Station. You have the option of staying in shared dormitories or self-catering apartments. There is a shared kitchen, and Chiado, the famous shopping area, is very close by. A third bargain option is the Residencial Valentina. Small private rooms with a TV and phone are offered and there are some with private bathrooms. It is only a five minute walk from Bairro Alto.

    The Lapa 82 Boutique Bed & Breakfast

    Nearby upscale Lapa has some bargain hotels with great amenities. The Lapa 82 Boutique Bed & Breakfast offers all private rooms with private baths. A nice feature is the breakfast served in the living room by the terrace. The Basilica da Estrela is a three minute walk away.

    House Sao Bento

    Also in Lapa is the House Sao Bento. Located in yet another historical building, the rooms other than the suite have shared bathroom facilities. Each room has a deck and is airconditioned. The kitchen is communal.

    54 Santa Catarina Apartments

    The 54 Santa Catarina Apartments has private bathrooms in their studio and apartment accommodations. The Tagus river is nearby along with plenty of bars and restaurants.

    Ha Mar ao Luar 

    A little off the beaten path is the Ha Mar ao Luar in Setubal. South of the city, the views are spectacular. Each room has a kitchen. Breakfast is served on the terrace by a lovely garden and there is a nice pool.

    Lisbon Beaches for June

    Praia da Morena

    There are miles of beaches along the Caparica coast. The Praia da Morena in the north is very family-friendly with plenty of places to eat and drink along the way.

    Praia da Seria

    The Praia da Seria too is popular with families. Both these beaches are very crowded in the summer and traffic getting there can be trying. Leave early. The Ponte 25 de April is the bridge you must cross to get to this area and miles of backups are not uncommon during summer months.

    Bars and Restaurants

    O Bom O Mau E O Vilao

    A fabulous piano bar with a relaxing atmosphere is the O Bom O Mau E O Vilao. They have live music as well as exciting movie screenings. The bar is divided into small, intimate rooms for more privacy if desired.

    Restaurante Cervejaria Trindade

    In Chiado you will find the reasonably priced Restaurante Cervejaria Trindade. Very popular, there are often long lines of locals waiting patiently to get in. The restaurant is housed in what was one of the first beer houses in the city.

    Restaurante O Nobre

    The Restaurante O Nobre serves fish and game. Located on Avenida Sacadura Cabral, prices are reasonable and the dish preparation excellent. This is an ideal place to take your family, freinds or partner.

    Retaurante Tagide in Chiado

    Retaurante Tagide in Chiado is known not only for its cuisine but for the views overlooking Lisbon city. Meat, fish and even vegetarian dishes are served here. 

    Restaurante Honra By Olivier

    One of Lisbon's top chefs, Chef Olivier, has opened four restaurants in Lisbon. The Restaurante Honra By Olivier is one of the newest and uses traditional Portuguese recipes. You will be treated nicely here, with wonderful service and a delicious selection of meals to choose from.

    Casa de Pasto

    The Casa de Pasto serves well prepared but simple grilled fish and tapas cooked in a charcoal oven. Desserts are also a favourite here. The Mediterranean, European and Portuguese mixture of choices on the menu mean there is something for anyone and everyone.

    Atira-te ao Rio

    On the south bank of the Tagus River you will find the Atira-te ao Rio. Ferries run regularly. The fresh fish and outside tables from where you can watch the sun set make the short journey across from Lisbon worth the effort. You will love the fresh seafood, the starters and desserts make this resturant well worth the prices. 

    SeaMe

    More great seafood, including sushi, visit SeaMe in Chiado. The style is oriental but you can get classic Portuguese fish dishes here also. The modern, stylish decor makes you feel comfortable and the mellow lighting makes this restaurant perfect for dates and evening meals.

    Things to do in Lisbon in June

    Super Bock Super Rock

    Super Bock Super Rock is a series of rock concerts held in parks across the city, including the Parque das Naçoes and Parque do Tejo. Anyone that is into live music, and espeically pop will throughly enjoy this concert in the sunshine.

    Cascais International Sailing Week

    Cascais International Sailing Week sees many exciting sailing competitions take place. The week it is held is always in June, mainly due to the weather. Put your sunglasses on and get in involved in sailing week.
     

    European Wave Freestyle Funboard Championship

    The European Wave Freestyle Funboard Championship and PWA World Cup Guincho Wave Contest takes place at Guicho Beach in nearby Sintra. Surfers from all over the world come to compete in this competition. Partake and see some amazing tricks in the waves!

    Adventure Park

    If you are tired of the beach but need to let the children get rid of some excess energy, try the Adventure Park. There are various challenging courses for all ages including rope climbing, bridges and swings. Children will love this place and adults who want to let out their inner child.

    Cable Cars

    The views of the city are gorgeous from the cable cars that run by the Oceanarium. The cars overlook the Vasco da Gama Bridge and the river banks too. It's worth riding on one of these for the fabulous view and for such a cheap price you'd be silly not to really. An ideal experience if the sun is shining! The hills around parts of Lisbon can be very steep. There are three small trams that are free with your Lisbon Card that make climbing them much easier, especially at the end of a long day's sightseeing.
