Bars and Restaurants
Yes, it's a hostel. But not many of these backpackers' haunts can boast a great rooftop bar like Hotel Kokopelli can. It's in the heart of the lively Miraflores district and is a perfect spot for a pre or after dinner drink, with a range of nightly events keeping the atmosphere lively, including DJs and live bands. This is aided by happy hours and even free shots if you feel strong enough. By day, it's a more laid-back meeting place with great city views.
Orient Express Restobar
Sip great cocktails in the exotic setting based on one of the world's most famous trains at the small but perfectly formed Orient Express Restobar, a past winner of the Best Pisco Sour contest at the Mistura Food Fair. Visitors love it, judging by the reviews and its cocktails score maximum points. This cosy and friendly bar in Miraflores is perfect for tipplers and train lovers alike.

Sample ceviche and sea bass chupes (stews), or tuck into lamb chops with pumpkin risotto, followed by desserts including crème caramel made on the premises. All this while gazing at a pyramid right in the heart of Miraflores.
The Huaringas Bar is one of Lima's most popular and attracts a good balance of locals and tourists. Despite its popularity, there is plenty of room to socialise as there are spaces to suit all tastes across several floors. The Pisco sour has been given a new twist here, being mixed with tropical fruits including passion fruit. There's a good snack and light bites menu and live music at weekends.
Things to do in Lima in March
Take a scenic stroll
For a great walk with incredible views all the way, head for the six-mile Miraflores boardwalk, or Malecón, which starts in Malecón de la Marina at the Northern end, merges into Malecón Cisneros and ends in Malecón Cisneros. All along this clifftop promenade are wonderful Pacific views and this is a popular destination for families and couples, who often end up at the appropriately-named Love Park. You can choose to see the main sights with an experienced guide, or combine your tour with a culinary experience, taking in famous city eating places en route. Tours will also take visitors to sights off the tourist map for a unique view of Lima. The same family-run company also offers city walking tours.
Haggle to your heart's content at the Miraflores Indian Market, where you can buy from the makers with no middle man to push prices up. There are baskets, bags, backpacks, hats, jackets and more made from everything from Alpaca to Llama skins and traditional Peruvian jewellery made from wood or clay. One essential purchase is the typical Cusco blanket, a vivid, colourful creation which will be much cheaper here than at home.
