Lefkada Weather December Averages, Greece
December is one of the coolest months in Lefkada, and is also the wettest.
Daytime temperatures only reach a high of 13°C (55°F) and can dip down to a very cool 7°C (45°F) at night.
There are only a few hours of sunshine every day.
Warm clothing would be appropriate to pack at this time of year, and as there is a strong chance of experiencing rain during your visit, an umbrella and waterproof mac would be appropriate.
Many hotels, bars and restaurants will be closed during the winter months, meaning that many of the tourist areas will have a ghost town feel to them. However, the upside is that remaining accommodation will be much cheaper to snap up.
Many people visit Lefkada during December to take in the beautiful scenery without large crowds or intense heat to hinder their experience.
The hills and mountains all over the island are covered with pine trees and olive groves. There are several working olive presses as well as well preserved pre-industrial olive mills. The hills are also dotted with abandoned windmills.
Ferries still run in winter, albeit less frequently. You can take a trip to the nearby island of Meganisi, which is a favourite with nature lovers. The small, hilly island is covered with nature trails which you can hike around or hire a bike and cycle over.
There are very few events and festivals in Lefkada in December, but Christmas is celebrated in every town with nativity plays and large family gatherings.
