If you're in Las Palmas during one of their fairly rare rainy days, you can still enjoy the culture and history to the area with a visit to the Canarian Museum. The museum was built in 1879 and features collections like Gran Canaria archeological remains, animal skins, and lifestyle exhibits showcasing the economic activity, social organizations and religions of the region. If the weather's still bad, Las Arenas is one of the largest shopping centers on the island and is a great place to look for souvenirs.
Eating and Drinking Out:
El Rincon Aragones is about as close as you can get to the beach while still enjoying great food and drinks. The restaurant faces the popular Las Canteras beach and serves local Spanish cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood. It's most famous for its mojitos.
Aji, Limon y Canela (which in English is chili pepper, lemon and cinnamon three key ingredients in this Peruvian restaurant) specializes in fish and seafood. There's an outdoor terrace for enjoying the warm January days in Las Palmas, as well as stylish indoor dining for the chillier evenings.
Another beachside option, La Bikina embraces a fun, beachy attitude with their light interiors and wide variety of dishes. With a Spanish chef and Indonesian Cook, La Bikina serves fun variations on Asian and South American cuisine, all with a great location next to Las Canteras.
