December Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

December may already have seen an end to the beach weather in LarnacaCyprus, but this does not mean it is not still a popular seaside resort and an ideal holiday location if you're looking for some winter sun and warm weather on your Christmas holiday. Its fantastic Mediterranean climate means Larnaca enjoys warm and pleasant weather year round.

At this time of the year the temperatures remain steady and there is still plenty of sun seen every day. If you're looking to enjoy some warm winter weather, Larnaca may just be the right place for you on your Christmas break.

The average temperature has dropped three degrees since November and is now 14°C, which is still not bad considering the time of the year. March has the same average temperature, while January and February are the coldest months of the year with a 12°C average. The mercury dips into the single digits again at night in Decemberhe average low is 9°C. In the afternoon, however, the temperature still climbs to a comfortable average high of 18°C. Both of these temperatures tend to decrease by approximately three degrees in the course of the month, though, as the weather moves into the coldest part of the year. The sea temperature is definitely too cold to swim now, averaging no more than 13°C.

Cloud cover almost reaches its annual maximum in December. It rises from 39% to 46% in the course the monthhe annual high of 47% is reached in January. This increase in cloud cover results in much more rainfall in the resort at this time of the year.

In fact, December is by far the wettest month of the entire year, receiving about 90mm of rainfall throughout the month, spread out over 12 days with rainfall. The probability that rainfall occurs increases in the course of December. December 1 is the driest day of the month with a 34% chance that it will rain; December 31 is the wettest day with a chance of rainfall of 42%. There are two main types of rainfall, which are both equally as likely to occur. Moderate rain falls on 42% of the days with precipitation, while thunderstorms are observed on 41% of those days. Light rain may fall as well, but only on 14% of the rainy days.

Darker days with more rainfall limit the amount of sunrays that hit the resort. A typical day in December has 5 sunshine hours on average. This makes it the third least sunny month of the year, after the following months of January and February.

Amorgos is a three-star, modern boutique hotel located in the city centre of Larnaca. The hotel offers standard rooms, superior rooms or grand superior rooms, all equipped with comfortable bedding, a balcony, TV, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and heating, mini bar, coffee/tea maker, and telephone. A complimentary bottle of wine, mineral water and fruit is provided upon arrival, making this hotel very warm and welcoming. The hotel also offers car rentals and free parking onsite. Other facilities include a meeting room, luggage storage room, restaurant and bar. There are also several nearby attractions, such as the Catholic Church of St. John, the Stavrovouni Monastery, Kition Archaeological Site and the Larnaca Medieval Castle.

Everyone likes Italian food! The best place to go for Italian food in Larnaca is possibly Casa Mia Italian Restaurant. This well-rated restaurant is most famous for its steak dishes, but other dishes on the menu that are worth trying include the many pastas, salads and desserts.

By December, the cooler weather may mean the beach isn't such an appealing option anymore, but there are more ways to enjoy the coast than by sitting out on it in your swimwear. A sail trip around the area is a great way to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery. Whether you want to go on a cruise or get a glimpse of what lies beneath with a trip out in a glass bottomed boat, there are plenty of different ways to enjoy a trip out on the high seas.

Other outdoor activities that you may consider in December include fishing, hiking, cycling and mountain biking. All these fun things can be done either in the resort itself or in the surrounding countryside.
