    April is the beginning of the summer season in LarnacaCyprus, when the resort really comes into its own. From this month on, expect nothing but warm and sunny weather throughout that is perfect for heading straight to the beach or taking part in some other fun outdoor activitieshe water might still be too chilly for swimming, though.

    The overall average temperature in April is 18°C, a significant four-degree increase since March. This is also the first month of the year that sees the average nighttime temperature climb into the two digitst now is at 12°C. During the day, the mercury rises to an average high of 23°C. These two average temperatures increase in the course of the month. The only temperature that isn't comfortable yet is the one of the Mediterranean Sea. The sea temperature averages a chilly 11°C in April, perhaps not warm enough for dips in the sea.

    The amount of rainfall in April has dropped enormously when compared to the previous winter months and now totals about 10mmhis monthly total will remain essentially the same through to September. With 7 days with precipitation, April also has 23 days without a single drop of rain whatsoever. The probability that rainfall occurs decreases in the course of the month, from 29% in the beginning to 21% at the end. The two most common types of rainfall are moderate rain and thunderstorms, respectively occurring on 44% and 38% of the days with rainfall. Light rain may be experienced as well, but only on 16% of the rainy days.

    This decrease in total rainfall is related to the clearing of the skies in Larnaca. Cloud cover drops from 36% to 29% in the course of the month, opening up the skies for more sunshine. A typical day in April gets 7 sunshine hours on averagehe same as in November.

    With the perfect beach weather once again returning to Larnaca, where else will you want to head other than straight to the beach? They are the perfect place to relax and unwind on your break, whilst lapping up the sun. Larnaca's coast is also a haven for water sports enthusiasts. Although the sea water isn't yet warm enough to go for comfortable swims,  scuba diving, jet skiing, kitesurfing, canoeing, sailing, parasailing, and kayaking, to name but a few, are all popular activities with locals and tourists alike at this time of year.

    People who would like to keep things drier can visit the Pierides Museum on Zenonos Kitieos Street. Exhibiting a fantastic private collection of antiquities from Cyprus, this is one of the greatest museums in the resort. Its collection covers no less than 9,000 years of Cypriot historic and art, including the Neolithic, Mycenaean, Classical, Hellenistic, Venetian and Ottoman periods, among many others. The entire collection was gathered by the Pierides family, one of Larnaca's most well-known families, and is housed in a 19th-century family mansion.
