November Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Lake Garda in November

November is the beginning of the off-season at Lake Garda in northern Italy because this month the temperature begins to fall to close to its winter levels. But this doesn't mean it's not a good time to visit as rainfall is also starting to decrease and the lack of tourists means you can explore this beautiful area without the summer crowds.

Temperature

The average temperature this month is 10ºC (50ºF), which means that although sunbathing and swimming are unlikely, it is still warm enough to enjoy activities such as sightseeing, hiking and mountain biking around the lake's shores and sailing on its waters, if you wrap up warm. It's also worth bearing in mind that while the average temperature is 10ºC (50ºF), you could easily see average high temperatures of a pleasant 15ºC (59ºF).

Sunshine Hours

This month you have an 18% chance of a sunny day during the 8 hours of sunshine.

Snow

When it is not sunny, however, the temperatures will drop and lows at this time of year reach a chilly average of 5ºC (41ºF), and there's even a 1% chance of snow.

Rainfall

While snow remains unlikely, there is still quite a lot of rain around this month compared with the drier winter months (the driest month at the lake is March). This month you are likely to see an average of 66mm of rain falling over 11 days with a 40% chance of rain.

Sunshine Hours

Even on the days in which it is not raining, sunshine is not guaranteed at the lake this month with a 26% chance of a cloudy day. Fog across the lake is a common occurrence throughout the winter as the temperatures drop and this month you stand a 34% chance of having your views obscured by it for at least part of your day.

Wind

The wind also begins to pick up this month, although at only a 3% chance of experiencing a windy day, it is not a problem for those travelling at this time of year.

Lake Garda Hotels for November

Hotel Corte Valier

If you catch one of November's warmer days then you should definitely explore the castle and historic town of Lazise on the lake's south-eastern shore, but if the weather gets chilly why not relax in the spa at Lazise's Hotel Corte Valier, with its own in-door swimming pool. Staying here gives you the choice, and whatever the weather there are great views of the lake to enjoy from the hotel.

Lefay Resort and spa Lago di Garda

The perfect base for a hiking holiday around the Riviera dei Limoni is the Lefay Resort and spa Lago di Garda. Set in 11 hectares of stunning parkland, this luxurious hotel in the picturesque village of Gargnano is located high on the hills with breath-taking views down across the lake.

Castello Lake Front Hotel

Base yourself in the beautiful town of Malcesine to the north of the lake and you can explore the snowy mountains of the Italian Alps with their extensive skiing areas to one side and the historic villages and activities on the lake to the other. The Castello Lake Front Hotel is a great place to stay with indoor spa facilities and rooms with stunning lakeside views for those colder days.

Bars and Restaurants

Ristorante La Berlera

Experience the history and culture of Lake Garda with a meal at the Ristorante La Berlera, a historic stone villa which literally seems to have grown out of the bedrock of the town. This rustic Italian restaurant is family-run which adds to the friendly, lively atmosphere and the food is traditional, Italian with lots of local specialities.

Villa Feltrinelli

For a rare gastronomic treat why not use the cold November weather as an excuse for spending a day enjoying the delights of the lake's only 2-Michelin star restaurant, Villa Feltrinelli. Part of the Grand Hotel Villa Feltrinelli in Gargnano, the restaurant is presided over by executive chef Stefano Baiocco and offers a menu of some of the finest Italian food to be had in the entire country in its stunning dining room complete with fine crystal chandeliers and hand-decorated wallpaper.

Things to do in Lake Garda in November

Villa Romana

If the weather's overcast then spend the day exploring the fascinating 2000-year-old Villa Romana in Desenzano with its ancient mosaic floors depicting images of Roman daily life like hunting and chariot riding. Visitors can walk through the ruins of this ancient lakeside villa on wooden walkways and take in the same stunning views the Roman's would have enjoyed.

Terme di Sirmione

Get out of the chilly November weather and pamper yourself at Terme di Sirmione, the natural thermal springs in Sirmione. If you're brave enough to don your swimsuit then you'll find the outdoor thermal pool an inviting 37ºC, otherwise head inside for a range of thermal spa treatments.

Corteforte Fumane

Visit the beautiful winery at Corteforte Fumane east of Bardolino. Originally a 15th century fort and transformed in the 16th century into a palatial residence, today the winery belongs to Carlo Maria Cerutti and produces up to 270 metric tons of grapes from across its 8 acres.
