September Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

While September traditionally heralds the start of autumn in Europe, the weather in Lagos could easily be mistaken for peak summer.  Average high temperatures only fall by 2°C by the end of September. Which means 26°C is a regular occurrence in the region at this time of the year.

Historically highs of up to 33°C have been experienced in Lagos in September, with this hottest temperature arriving in the region in 2006. And while average temperatures in a standard year are more likely to be around 23°C, it is still a beautiful time to visit Lagos.

10 hours of daily sunshine ensure very bright, clear days for all residents of Lagos in September. Even when the sun goes down, average low temperatures around 19°C ensure there is plenty of warmth in the air. Though it is coming to the end of the peak summer season, the sun is still very powerful at this time of the year, which means effective protection is required whenever you are out and about.

Sea temperatures are also blissful in Lagos in September, remaining at the peak temperature experienced throughout the entire month of August. At a very welcoming 23°C this is far warmer than many regions experience at any point in time. But in Lagos, this luxury is experienced for a full two months of the year.

Rain is also never an issue for visitors to Lagos in September. Though there is a chance that five days of the month will experience some precipitation, as only 16mm fall throughout September, any showers will be very brief.
