Temperature
Thanks to increasingly warmer temperatures and moderate rainfall, May is an excellent month for tourists to visit Krakow. Krakow International Film Festival
May is the month of festivals for Krakow and a popular choice is the Krakow International Film Festival, showcasing short films and documentaries. The eight-day event includes over 250 films from around Poland and throughout the world and is the oldest film festival in the country. Festival goers are treated to films in different genres and forms including documentary, animation and short films.
Cracovia Marathon
If running is your thing, test your endurance at the Cracovia Marathon that takes place each spring in Krakow. If you're not quite up for the 26.2-mile race, the event also includes a 13.1-mile half-marathon distance. You can also register as a team and run the race as a relay in small increments. The race route takes runners on a scenic tour of the city, running near the river, as well as through historic parts of town.
Juwenalia
The student carnival Juwenalia takes place in the middle of the month of May and is when many of the town's students receive symbolic keys to the city gates. Juvenalia has plenty of fancy dress processions, masquerades and street dancing, as the students celebrate youth, education and their respective schools. Other events that accompanying the event include concerts, parties and lots of crazy fun.
