Hit the beach

Koh Jum

For a glimpse at what Thailand looked like before mass tourism took over, spend a few hours at Koh Jum. This island can be reached by a long tail boat trip from Krabi Pier the boats usually leave only once a day, so make sure you don't miss it. The beach is located on the island of the same name and features a huge stretch of soft golden sand lapped by clear blue waters on one side and lined by dense palm and casuarinas trees on the other. There are no facilities available on the beach, leaving you nothing to do but sunbathe, swim and relax. However, there are a couple of resorts in the area, which provide shops, bars and restaurants.

Mor Island

Located in between Chicken Island and Koh Poda, Mor Island is a tiny rock jutting out of the sea. The centre of the island is dominated by a thick collection of tropical trees, with a soft sandy beach encircling it. Because of its small size, very few people go to this beach, making it ideal for those in search of a castaway type of experience.

Long tail boats travel between Ao Nang beach and Mor Island several times each day and the journey takes around 30 minutes. There are no sun loungers, parasols, bars or restaurants on the island, so make sure you take everything you'll need for the day with you.

Bai Tong Thai Restaurant

Bai Tong Thai Restaurant is a great place to go for quality Thai food in sophisticated surroundings. Located in Nong Thale in Krabi Town, this eatery is open for lunch and dinner and serves a huge selection of meat-, fish- and vegetable-based dishes, all cooked in an authentic Thai style. Tew Lay Bar

Tew Lay Bar is perfect for holidaymakers who want to enjoy a meal in completely relaxed surroundings. Chilled-out music is played throughout the daytime and evening and a number of family-friendly games, such as Connect Four, are available for customers to play.

Phi Phi Island

If you're seeking some high-octane nightlife, pop into Jordan's Irish Pub. Located on Phi Phi Island and open every night from 10pm until late, this bar has a resident DJ who plays a wide selection of music in between the live bands and Irish performers which take to the stage every night. Whether you want to dance, talk at the bar, play pool, people watch or relax on the chill out terrace there's something for everyone here. Full moon parties are also held here and most major sports events are broadcast on TV.

Ao Nang Krabi Stadium

Sports fans won't want to miss the opportunity to visit the Ao Nang Krabi Stadium the largest Thai boxing stadium in the south of Thailand. Although the stadium is a little run down, the cheaper prices compared to stadiums in Phuket still make it great value for money. All the fights here are genuine rigging is strictly prohibited and gambling is very much encouraged. Various levels of fights ranging from first-time amateurs to seasoned professionals take place several times each week, giving you plenty of chances to see this authentic Thai sport.
