Krabi Beach for July

Koh Poda beach is one of the most popular in Krabi, thanks to its picture-perfect beauty. Here you'll find soft white sands stretching on for several kilometres, providing children with plenty of space to play and adults with more than enough room to relax. The clean and clear waters are always incredibly calm, making them perfect for swimming, whilst the incredible clarity makes the sea here ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. There are also several small boats moored off the shore which will take you on excursions.

The beach at Ko Paid (sometimes known as Bamboo Island) is located on the uninhabited island of the same name. Since no one lives here, the beach on this island is entirely unspoilt and very quiet so quiet you'll often have the whole place to yourself. The soft, white sands provide the ideal conditions for sunbathing, whilst the remarkably clear and warm waters are great for snorkelling. You can catch a long tail boat from many of the other islands within the Krabi province to visit the beach. If the beach the boat pulls up on is crowded with tourists, you can explore the island and discover a quieter, more remote beach elsewhere on the island.

Neither of these beaches provide visitors with parasols or sun loungers, so you'll have to bring your own if you think you'll need them.

Bars and Restaurants

If you're struggling to find some gluten-free food and drink in Krabi, pop into Diver's Inn Steakhouse and Restaurant. Located in Ao Nang and open from 11am until 11pm every day, this restaurant specialises in 120 day-aged grain-fed Australian beef steaks, alongside a variety of duck, pork, chicken, seafood and Thai dishes, too. The restaurant recently added a number of gluten-free main meals, desserts and beer, for those who can't tolerate gluten.

For a true taste of local cuisine, consider dining at Ton-Ma-Yom Restaurant. Situated in Ao Nang and open from 8am until 2pm and again from 5pm until 9.30pm, this eatery is off the main streets and provides a very quiet place to enjoy a meal which is typically made to locals' tastes, unlike many other restaurants which claim to be authentic Thai, but tailor their flavours to the western palate. This restaurant fills up very quickly, so it's best to book in advance if you don't want to be disappointed.

When it comes to live cabaret in Krabi, it's tough to beat the Blue Dragon on the third floor at Centre Point. Shows take place twice each night once from 9pm until 10pm and again from 11pm until midnight and are performed by Thailand's infamous glamorous lady boys who lip synch to various popular tunes. Unlike you might imagine, the Blue Dragon isn't sleazy in the slightest it's clean and comfortable making for a fun night out, whatever your age.

Luna Beach Bar is one of the best beachfront bars on Noppharat Thara Beach. Open every day from midday until 2am, this bar is known for its open-air dance floor which is located on the beach. If you're not up for a dance, there are several comfy sofas where you can relax and enjoy the sea views with a drink in your hand. Sadly, the food does not come highly recommended here, so you're best off just having a drink here and eating elsewhere.

Things to do in Krabi in July

For a daring show unlike any other, stop by the Snake Show in Ao Nang. Shows run between 9am and 5pm and there are no set times for performances the show will take place whenever you show up. Before the show begins, visitors are encouraged to wander around the venue and admire the various snakes, lizards and turtles on display. After exploring, the show begins with a selection of pythons, vipers, cobras, rattle snakes and racers taking centre stage, alongside brave Thai locals who act out incredible stunts with the snakes. No snakes have had their fans or venom removed, so it really is as dangerous as it looks.

If you're up for a short tour, consider visiting Koh Pan Yi, the floating Muslim village. This floating village is packed with attractions, including restaurants serving fresh seafood, bars serving local beer, souvenir shops selling artisan handicrafts and traditional mosque. A few hours wandering around this village is a great way to experience the local culture and see how people really live away from the tourist resorts. The village is very small, so a couple of hours will give you plenty of time to see everything there is to see.

When it comes to rock climbing in Krabi, you can't beat Real Rocks Climbing Railay. Located on East Railay Beach, this rock climbing academy offers half-day rock climbing, full-day rock climbing, three-day climbing courses, deep water free climbing and climbing and caving tours for families. Climbing courses with private guides are also available, ranging from basic climbing courses to beginner abseiling and advanced lead climbing, all of which take place over several days.
